GENERAL SUMMARY OF THE JOB

The Maintenance Technician on 3rd shift will be responsible for all maintenance applications including predictive and preventative maintenance, heavy machine repair for plant operations such as Cold Nut Former, Press, and Tool Room lines, secondary equipment, and general building maintenance. Candidates must have a 2-year technical degree or 8 years of equivalent experience, proficient troubleshooting skills, and maintenance experience with heavy industrial machinery and electrical repair. Responsibilities include working with purchasing for parts ordering, implementing cost-saving ideas, developing critical spare parts lists to minimize machine downtime, and ensuring all repairs are qualified prior to production. Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workplace is essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Install, maintain, and repair manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and perform advanced electrical repairs.
  • Complete preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on various equipment.
  • Operate and maintain machine shop tools, hand tools, measuring, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Operate tool room equipment as required for maintenance.
  • Keep proper records and ensure warranty compliance for all equipment.
  • Fabricate, rebuild, design, and install machine parts.
  • Mechanical installation and troubleshooting of oil lubrication, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Maintain the facility's compressed air and drying systems.
  • Install and troubleshoot electrical motors and controls.
  • Install, maintain, and repair hydraulic systems.
  • Construct electrical control panels from schematics.
  • Identify cost reduction, productivity improvement, and waste elimination opportunities.
  • Determine whether to make or buy repair parts and coordinate with vendors for sourcing.
  • Install, design, troubleshoot, and set parameters for variable drive systems.
  • Train employees in repairing manufacturing equipment and electrical controls.
  • Collaborate with engineering to design and install specialized equipment.
  • Work flexibly across all required hours with minimal notice.
  • Follow safe working practices and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
  • 2-year technical degree or 8 years of equivalent experience.
  • Ability to use and interpret various precision measuring tools.
  • Experience in designing and upgrading equipment/processes.
  • Safe operation of shop equipment including welding tools, brakes, shears, mills, drill presses, lathes, metal saws, hones, surface grinders, etc.
  • Working knowledge of blueprints and schematics.
  • Proficiency in welding and cutting techniques.
  • Knowledge of plant piping layouts (gas, air, water).
  • Ability to rebuild manufacturing equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Fork truck certification.
  • Experience in project management for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Skill in rebuilding equipment to OEM specifications.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing electrical circuits and understanding electrical panel components.
