Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot automated machinery (approx. 90% of day).

• Troubleshoot and edit Allen-Bradley PLCs (5s/500s).
• Replace seals, bearings, gearboxes.

• Respond to equipment breakdowns and implement corrective actions.

Job Description

The Maintenance Technician maintains and repairs automated manufacturing equipment, spending most of the day troubleshooting complex machinery and performing preventive maintenance. This role focuses primarily on mechanical systems with a significant electrical component and involves working with presses, vacuum systems, robots, hydraulics, pneumatics, and PLCs in a modern automotive production environment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot automated machinery, including presses, vacuum systems, and robotic equipment, for approximately 90% of the workday.
• Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on production equipment for approximately 10% of the workday to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems on presses, including valves, pumps, cylinders, and associated components.
• Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic systems, including lines, actuators, and control devices.
• Troubleshoot and edit Allen-Bradley PLCs (5s/500s), including identifying faults and making program adjustments as needed.
• Replace mechanical components such as seals, bearings, and gearboxes to restore equipment to proper operating condition.
• Work with Fanuc robotics, including troubleshooting, basic adjustments, and supporting production needs.
• Troubleshoot and repair AC and DC motors, including work with electrical systems up to 480V, single-phase and three-phase.
• Perform welding and fabrication tasks as needed to repair or modify equipment and support maintenance projects.
• Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings to identify issues and plan repairs.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns quickly, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
• Support automated equipment troubleshooting across the facility, ensuring safe and efficient operation.

Essential Skills

• Strong troubleshooting experience in a previous maintenance or similar role, particularly with automated manufacturing equipment.
• Hands-on experience with hydraulic systems, including presses and related components.
• Electrical troubleshooting experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, including editing PLC programs (AB 5s/500s).
• Ability to troubleshoot automated equipment, including presses, robots, and vacuum systems.
• Experience working with electrical systems up to 480V, including single-phase and three-phase power.
• Proficiency with AC and DC motors, including diagnosis and repair.
• Mechanical aptitude with approximately 70% of the role focused on mechanical work and 30% on electrical work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience as a maintenance technician in a lean manufacturing or automotive facility.
• Background working with Fanuc robotics or similar industrial robots.
• Familiarity with three-phase and single-phase electrical systems in industrial settings.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Valparaiso, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $54080.00 - $74880.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
