Job description

Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift (2pm-10pm)

The Maintenance Technician position is an entry/mid-level position into the Technical Systems department and encompasses a wide array of skilled disciplines. It is the responsibility of the Maintenance Technician to work side by side with other Specialists and Technicians, performing routine maintenance, projects, emergency repairs and troubleshooting. The incumbent works closely with managers, co-workers and independently with little or no supervision. Equipment responsibilities and duties will include, but not limited to, automation systems, stacker cranes, print room systems, tilt-tray sorter, stretch wrappers, conveyor systems and miscellaneous other equipment.

Teamwork, cooperation and flexibility, along with LEAN principles of problem solving and elimination of waste are expectations of the position. Additionally, every employee is responsible for their personal safety, as well as the safety of their peers. Adherence of established safety policies and procedures, along with the reporting of all injuries and unsafe conditions are also requirements of this position. Business needs of the department may require additions or changes to the duties of this position.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  2. Ability to constantly stand, walk, push/pull and reach above shoulder level.
  3. Ability to push, pull, lift and carry up to 30 lbs constantly, 50 lbs frequently and lift up to 75 lbs occasionally.
  4. PC experience with Word and Excel
  5. An Associates degree OR a certificate of completion in electrical systems maintenance, electronics, or electo-mechanical
  6. At least 2 years of experience working as a Maintenance Technician (Technical) with demonstrated proficiency or a Certificate of Completion in Electrical Systems Maintenance, Electronics, Robotics, Electro-mechanical or completion of the following courses: Electrical Motor Controls I and II, Programmable Logic Controllers, Advanced Programmable Logic Controllers, Welding 1, Variable Speed Drives and Controllers and Machine Tool Workshop.

  8. Sound decision making skills.
  9. Familiar with lockout/tagout procedures.
