Job summary

Canam Steel Corporation in Maryland is seeking a self-motivated maintenance technician to join the production team. You will help sustain continuous operations with emphasis on electrical components and safety compliance.

The role requires wiring, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic know-how, basic welding, and the ability to read blueprints while performing preventative and general maintenance, and supporting machine installations.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• General controls and electrical troubleshooting experience.
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Able to perform basic stick and wire feed welding.
• Must be able to learn the basic functions of all plant equipment.
• Must have basic lockout/tag out knowledge and proper PPE.

Responsibilities

• Ensure continued production operations by completing preventive and general maintenance and emergency service with emphasis on electrical components.
• Read blueprints and interpret mechanical drawings to service equipment.
• Install and move machinery as needed and support machinery maintenance.
• Follow lockout/tag out procedures per OSHA standards and company policies.
• Work both independently and as part of a team to complete duties.

• A ble to perform basic electrical troubleshooting and have a general knowledge of controls .
• Able to install and move machinery .
• Performs lockout / tag out procedures, according to OSH A standards and company policies .
• Ability to complete all duties and responsibilities as part of a team as well as alone.
• Works as a cooperative member of the team while performing duties and alone, as needed.
• F ollow s direction of leads, supervisor s and managers .
• Able to follow good housekeeping practices .

Physical Requirements:

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus . Must have normal color vision.
• Regularly works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions.
• Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heats and risk of electrical shock.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
