Job summary

Tandem Foods is expanding our Omega facility with a new SL6 line and is hiring skilled Maintenance Technicians for all three shifts. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair complex equipment to maximize uptime and ensure safety and food-quality standards.

Ideal candidates have strong mechanical/electrical skills, PLC/VFD familiarity, and the ability to collaborate with Engineering on projects while maintaining detailed maintenance records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational training preferred.
• 7+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing.
• Food/beverage manufacturing experience preferred; PLCs and automated systems desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on motors, conveyors, production lines and utility systems.
• Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs of production equipment as needed.
• Execute scheduled maintenance and inspections per plans and downtime windows.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems; identify root causes.
• Replace defective parts, fabricate/ install repair parts using shop tools.
• Set up machinery for scheduled production runs; work with Engineering on projects and improvements.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate issues across shifts.
• Follow safety, GMP and company policies to maintain a clean, safe work environment.

Job description

Tandem Foods is expanding operations at our Omega facility with the launch of our new SL6 production line. As part of this exciting growth, we are building out our Maintenance team across all three shifts and are looking for skilled Maintenance Technicians to support our expanding operation.

The Maintenance Technician at Tandem Foods is responsible for performing machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance throughout the manufacturing facility. This role plays a key part in ensuring maximum production uptime, equipment reliability, and adherence to all safety and food quality standards. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, a proactive maintenance mindset, and the ability to work cross-functionally to support production and engineering initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by performing preventive maintenance on motors, conveyors, production lines, and utility systems.
• Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs of production equipment as needed.
• Execute scheduled maintenance and inspections in accordance with maintenance plans and downtime windows.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Identify root causes of equipment issues by observing operation and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Replace defective parts and adjust machine functions using standard tools and precision devices.
• Fabricate and install repair parts as needed using machine shop tools and equipment.
• Prepare and set up machinery for scheduled production runs.
• Partner with Engineering on new projects, installations, and process improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate ongoing issues or opportunities across shifts.
• Follow all safety, GMP, and company compliance policies to ensure a clean and safe work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting aptitude.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
• Familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, and automated control systems preferred.
• Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
• Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills under time-sensitive conditions.
• Strong communication and documentation abilities.
• Team-oriented with a proactive, safety-first mindset.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing environment.
• Food or beverage manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience with PLCs, VFDs, and automated systems highly desirable.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including occasional evenings or weekends, as needed.
