Job summary

Metalcraft of Mayville, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician responsible for troubleshooting, repair, maintenance and process improvements of mechanical equipment, automated PLCs, robotics and other controlled equipment supporting production operations.

The role requires extensive experience in electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems, with a focus on reliability and safety. Candidates should be able to read schematics and P&ID drawings and coordinate with suppliers and internal teams.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 10 years of maintenance experience ideally in a metal fabrication shop.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot a wide variety of equipment.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of electrical, mechanical and controls of robotic equipment.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical P&ID drawings; operate systems up to 3Ph and 480Vac.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, self-motivation and multi-tasking ability.
  • Strong communication skills in both written and verbal forms.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting for electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems.
  • Manage equipment calibrations and configurations to resolve maintenance issues and improve reliability.
  • Enforce maintenance safety requirements.
  • Coordinate maintenance inventories to maximize storage and prevent stockouts.
  • Develop and manage outside contractor and vendor relationships.
  • Perform preventive maintenance including lubrication of machines.
  • Work with Maintenance Supervisor to assign work orders.
  • Generate daily work logs to track work orders and status of projects.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Overview

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician is primarily responsible for the troubleshooting, repair, maintenance and process improvement of mechanical equipment, automated PLC’s, robotics and other computer controlled equipment used to support production operations.

Responsibilities
  • Perform repairs, preventative maintenance and troubleshooting for all electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems to support both production and non-production related equipment in accordance with established standards.
  • Manages equipment calibrations, programmable device configurations and systems hardware to resolve maintenance issues, improve equipment reliability, minimize equipment downtime and support improvement activities for productivity and yield enhancement.
  • Recommends and enforces maintenance safety requirements.
  • Under general supervision, coordinates the maintenance of inventories of commonly used items to maximize maintenance storage and prevent stocking of seldom used goods.
  • Develop and manage outside contractor and vendor relationships.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, including but not limited to: lubricating machines
  • Work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor to assign work orders to Maintenance Technicians.
  • Generates daily work logs to track work orders and status of ongoing project assignments to ensure department resources are appropriately utilized.
  • Recommends and enforces maintenance
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and plant safety standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 10 years of maintenance experience ideally in a metal fabrication shop
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and abilities to analyze a wide variety of equipment troubleshoot problems and assess maintenance needs
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of electrical, mechanical and controls aspects of Robotic equipment.
  • Working knowledge of electrical circuits, PLC troubleshooting, repair and programming.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical P&ID drawings, and applied knowledge operating systems up to 3Ph and 480Vac
  • Demonstrated detail orientation, self-motivation skills and ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Technology or related field
  • Previous experience working within a highly technical environment
  • Journeyman certification, preferably from a field involving electrical systems, heating systems, plumbing, machine repair, hydraulics, and/or pneumatics.
