Electric Machinery Company in Minneapolis, MN is seeking a Maintenance Laborer for the 1st shift. The role focuses on cleaning and basic maintenance tasks within the shop, break rooms, restrooms, aisles, and related areas, supporting the Maintenance Team.

The ideal candidate has a High School degree (preferred) and up to one year of maintenance experience, with certification in overhead crane, jib crane, and forklift operation encouraged. The position offers full-time hours and union benefits.

Responsibilities

Cleans shop break rooms and restrooms; empties trash; powers sweeps and mops floors.
Empties manufacturing floor trash into larger dumpster and transfers to the compactor when needed.
Cleans dumpsters with high pressure washer; trims cardboard in compactor as required.
Supports maintenance team and may assist Electrical/Mechanical Technicians.
Adheres to ISO 9001 Quality Standards and OSHA/EPA regulations.

Maintenance Laborer – 1st shift

Primary Objective of Position

The Maintenance Labor role is responsible for general cleaning of the shop area, including break rooms, restrooms, manufacturing floor aisles and parking lot.

Skills Matrix

The Maintenance Labor position is part of the Maintenance Team skills Matrix. This position works as a team member utilizing and performing to the Maintenance Team skills matrix, which outlines the comprehensive skills in the Maintenance Team.

Major Areas of Accountability

Cleans shop break rooms and restrooms. Empty trash, wash windows, power sweep, power scrub and wash floors, clean countertops/surfaces, plumbing fixtures. Refill paper products and maintain supplies.
Empty manufacturing floor trash into larger dumpster, and when necessary the larger dumpster into the compactor.
Clean trash containers and dumpsters when needed using the high pressure washer in the wash booth.
Bale cardboard in compactor when needed.
Works in other areas of the Maintenance Team skills matrix, may perform basic Maintenance duties and support Electrical Mechanical Technicians.
Demonstrates a commitment to Continuous Improvement by identifying opportunities in day to day work.
Performs to ISO 9001 Quality Standards and abides to OSHA and EPA regulations.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

High School degree (preferred) with a 1 year of maintenance experience (preferred).
Ability to be certified in overhead crane, Jib crane and forklift operation.

Physical Requirements

Routinely lifts and moves objects up to 20 lbs.
Occasionally lifts and moves objects up to 50 lbs.
Routinely ascends/descends ladders and stairs.
