Job summary

ITW Shakeproof in Machesney Park, IL is seeking a Maintenance/Machine Repair Technician specializing in Cold Heading and Thread Rolling Machines. Candidates should have 3–5+ years of maintenance experience and a strong mechanical aptitude.

Qualifications

• Ability to complete basic mathematical calculations
• Forklift Truck Experience required

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to complete routine production and quality reports
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Understanding and compliance with safety rules and regulations
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Inspect machinery to diagnose malfunctions in equipment, repair or replace defective equipment as necessary.
• Test and repair malfunctioning production equipment/machinery and notify appropriate personnel.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment including machinery, cranes, forklift, etc.
• Assemble and install equipment using hand and power tools, welder, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, etc.
• Advanced knowledge for use of milling machine, brake press, drill press, and general machine shop equipment.
• Test water supply daily, maintain wastewater treatment equipment and processes.
• Repair machinery such as lathe, mill, drill press, and other tools as required.
• Maintain current knowledge and address safety and environmental issues.
• Other duties may include: janitorial, plumbing, pipefitting, painting, carpentry.
• Understand hydraulic principles, pneumatic principles etc.
• Demonstrate high level of mechanical aptitude and knowledge of timing of cams and gears, how to set backlash, replace bushings.
• Perform other duties as assigned
