Job summary

Kerry is seeking a Maintenance Technician for our Harrisonburg, Virginia facility. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment, troubleshoot motors and controls, and collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure uptime and safety.

This role operates Monday to Friday with a rotating 2-2-3 night shift from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, includes a $2.00 night shift differential, and offers comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of maintenance experience in industrial/manufacturing
• Strong troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems
• Familiarity with plant utility or packaging systems and safety guidelines

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, and routine maintenance, and rapid troubleshooting and repairs for plant equipment and facility systems.
• Troubleshoot industrial motors and controls, and install conduit and wiring for motors, lighting, and control devices like valves and limit switches.
• Handle mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and piping tasks, including pumps, seals, bearings, valves, and PVC or welded piping.
• Provide welding and fabrication support as qualified.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, production operators, and contractors on plant installations and projects.
• Use CMMS (SAP or MVP) to log work orders, track parts, and generate maintenance reports.
• Follow food safety, quality, and OSHA guidelines to ensure a safe environment.

Where You'll Work

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Technician for our facility in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the care and maintenance of all property and production assets in a safe, sanitary, and efficient condition. The Maintenance Technician will ensure the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing maintenance requirements (both planned and unplanned) on production, packaging, processing equipment, and utility systems (to provide a continuous supply of heat, steam, cooling, electrical power, gas, or air required for operations). This position creates value for the facility by performing preventive and corrective maintenance, leading to increased uptime and reliability, thereby helping the facility meet its production and quality goals.

Hours/Schedule

Monday to Friday (incl. weekends) _ 600pm-600am (2-2-3 rotating)

$2.00 shift differential for working night shift!

Key Responsibilities

• Provide welding and fabrication support as qualified.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, production operators, and outside contractors or vendors on plant installations and projects.
• Use computerized maintenance management systems (such as SAP or MVP) to log work orders, track replacement parts, and handle maintenance reporting.
• Follow all food safety, quality, and OSHA guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.

Qualifications & Skills

• 2-5 years' Practical experience in industrial, manufacturing maintenance, or electrical/mechanical repair.
• Strong proficiency in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, hand/power tools, and precision diagnostic/testing equipment.
• Familiarity with plant utility or packaging systems (varies by shift or department, which may include boilers, refrigeration, or compressed air).
• Basic computer literacy for work-order tracking and good interpersonal/communication skills to work alongside production staff.

Additional Areas

Additional Areas include experience with Boilers, Ammonia Systems, Wastewater Treatment Operations, and Refrigeration Systems will also be considered for applicants.

Compensation Data

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $39.00 per hour. Kerry typically does not hire an individual at the top or near the top of the range, as we are a pay-for-performance company, and this range is set to continue to reward performance annually while in role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The specific compensation offered to a candidate within the above range may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
