Job summary

Bob Evans Farms, Inc. is seeking a maintenance technician to inspect and service production equipment, ensuring safe, continuous operation of plant machinery.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required, plus 2+ years in industrial equipment maintenance.
  • Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge required.
  • Familiar with lock-out/tag-out safety procedures.
  • Ability to read safety and maintenance manuals.
  • Good problem solving and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect facility equipment daily performing various production startup and coverage tasks.
  • Maintain various plant machines by performing troubleshooting and general maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and pneumatic systems, demonstrating basic electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting skills.
  • Use prints, specifications, and follow verbal instructions to make repairs to ordinary plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Assist in the installation of equipment.
  • Clean and lubricate parts, equipment, and machinery.
  • Follow all SQF principles pertinent to your position as specified by the SQF Practitioner.
  • Report all food safety and human safety concerns to appropriate personnel such as QA technician, Safety Manager, FSQ Manager, etc.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or G.E.D required; a minimum of two or more years of industrial food manufacturing equipment experience required.
  • Basic electrical/mechanical knowledge required.
  • Understanding and completion of basic lock‑out, tag‑out procedures, lock colors, and Bradford Graphics signs; knowledge of when to utilize 2 points of control versus controlled access versus zero energy.
  • Judgment to make decisions regarding the sequence of maintenance operations within standard practice limits.
  • Ability to work in somewhat disagreeable conditions, dust, noise, fumes, and vibrations.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Use reasoning to solve problems.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • This position requires sitting, climbing or balancing under 1/3 of the time; walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling 1/3 to 2/3 of the time; standing, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, and talking or hearing over 2/3 of the time; and must be able to lift weights ranging from 10 to more than 100 pounds under 1/3 of the time.
  • This position will be exposed to work in high, precarious places and outdoor weather conditions under 1/3 of the time; work near moving mechanical parts over 2/3 of the time. Typical noise level is loud.
