Responsibilities
- Inspect facility equipment daily performing various production startup and coverage tasks.
- Maintain various plant machines by performing troubleshooting and general maintenance.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and pneumatic systems, demonstrating basic electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting skills.
- Use prints, specifications, and follow verbal instructions to make repairs to ordinary plumbing and electrical systems.
- Assist in the installation of equipment.
- Clean and lubricate parts, equipment, and machinery.
- Follow all SQF principles pertinent to your position as specified by the SQF Practitioner.
- Report all food safety and human safety concerns to appropriate personnel such as QA technician, Safety Manager, FSQ Manager, etc.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D required; a minimum of two or more years of industrial food manufacturing equipment experience required.
- Basic electrical/mechanical knowledge required.
- Understanding and completion of basic lock‑out, tag‑out procedures, lock colors, and Bradford Graphics signs; knowledge of when to utilize 2 points of control versus controlled access versus zero energy.
- Judgment to make decisions regarding the sequence of maintenance operations within standard practice limits.
- Ability to work in somewhat disagreeable conditions, dust, noise, fumes, and vibrations.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Use reasoning to solve problems.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- This position requires sitting, climbing or balancing under 1/3 of the time; walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling 1/3 to 2/3 of the time; standing, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, and talking or hearing over 2/3 of the time; and must be able to lift weights ranging from 10 to more than 100 pounds under 1/3 of the time.
- This position will be exposed to work in high, precarious places and outdoor weather conditions under 1/3 of the time; work near moving mechanical parts over 2/3 of the time. Typical noise level is loud.
