Job summary

Pilgrim’s is seeking a Maintenance Technician to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment. The role emphasizes safety and adherence to maintenance systems to support business goals.

Responsibilities include emergency repairs, routine maintenance, machine diagnostics, and performing plumbing and carpentry tasks while ensuring a safe, clean work environment. High school diploma preferred; poultry maintenance experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience in poultry or food maintenance is a plus.
  • Ability to multitask and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain production machines and facility equipment.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs during production.
  • Perform simple machinist duties and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Read manuals and work orders to perform maintenance.
  • Diagnose problems, replace parts, test and adjust.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and facilities.
  • Carry out plumbing and basic carpentry tasks.
  • Use hand and power tools, meters, and handling equipment safely.
  • Report safety issues to supervision and maintain clean, organized work areas.
  • Perform tasks as assigned by Maintenance Manager or Supervisor.

Maintenance Technician

Purpose & Scope:

The maintenance technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the facility’s business goals and objectives. Including, installation, repairs, adjustments and maintenance of all equipment and machinery with in the facility.

Principle Responsibilities:

Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the facility’s

equipment.

  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
  • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Perform tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Manager or Supervisor.

What You’ll Need:

  • Education: High School Diploma/GED preferred.

  • Experience: Poultry or food maintenance/industry experience is a plus.

  • Skills: Ability to multitask and work quickly, have good communication skills, ability to comprehend simple instructions and apply common sense, and must be a team player and be willing to work close to other employees at some stations. (Less than 3 feet apart.)

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

  • Physical requirements: Ability to work in cool temperatures (around 40 degrees), ability to stand and use hands for 8-11 hours per day and lift 50 bs or more.
