Job summary

Washington Mills in Sun Prairie, WI is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support hands-on maintenance of our process equipment in a team-driven environment. Under supervision, you'll work on extruders, kilns, dust collectors, conveyors, and other major systems, performing PM tasks and contributing to safety programs.

You’ll learn welding and machining skills, undergo training for site-specific tools, and help develop preventative maintenance plans while maintaining a clean, safe work area.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience using hand tools and powered hand tools preferred.
• Willingness to learn welding and machining.
• Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Maintain major equipment such as extruders, media cutters, high‑intensity mixers, kilns, industrial burners, dust collectors, vacuum pumps, and conveyors.
• Perform PM tasks and various scheduled machine audits.
• Assist in developing preventative maintenance plans for critical machines and systems.
• Collaborate with the EHS group on safety audits and related projects.
• Keep the work area clean and safe during and after maintenance tasks.

What You’ll Do

• Under the guidance of experienced technicians, work on all major equipment maintenance projects, including, but not limited to, extruders, media cutters, high-intensity mixers, kilns, industrial burners, dust collectors, vacuum pumps, and conveyors
• Perform PM tasks as well as various scheduled machine audits
• Assist in developing preventative maintenance plans for all critical machines and systems
• Work with EHS group to complete relevant safety audits and contribute to safety-related projects
• Always maintain a clean and safe work environment while assisting with cleanup efforts.

What You’ll Need

• Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent
• Training will be provided for all equipment and tools required that are specific to our operation
• Experience using hand tools and powered hand tools
• Willingness to learn and develop new skills with welding and machining equipment
• Willingness to learn new roles and tasks as business needs evolve
• Have a strong commitment to safety and work well in a team environment
