Job summary

The Villa at Stamford for Premier Rehabilitation & Healthcare is hiring a Maintenance Technician to perform general and preventive maintenance, respond to service calls, and assist with resident rooms turnovers in a healthcare setting.

The successful candidate will have 2–4 years of relevant maintenance experience, a valid driver’s license, and strong English communication skills with a customer-service mindset. On-call duties are required on alternating weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; technical schooling may be helpful.
• Valid Driver License and ability to pass Motor Vehicle Record check.
• Minimum 2–4 years of painting and other general maintenance experience in a complex setting (commercial/industrial/healthcare).
• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English; effective communication.
• Passionate about delivering excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance duties, preventive maintenance, service calls, and emergency maintenance as needed.
• Repair building and equipment (moderate plumbing/electrical, some carpentry).
• Complete resident room turnovers with minor repairs and touchups.
• Instruct residents on use of thermostats, remotes, bed controls, etc.
• Provide excellent customer service to residents and document work.
• On-call duties every other weekend.

Maintenance Technician ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

• Technician performs general maintenance duties, preventive maintenance, service calls, and emergency maintenance as needed and assigned
• Performs building and equipment repairs, with moderate plumbing and electrical, and some carpentry
• Completes resident room turnovers, including minor repairs, touchup painting, and restoring resident rooms to original condition.
• Instructs residents on how to use their thermostats, TV remotes, bed controls, etc.
• Provides excellent customer service to residents.
  • Preview work order, and respond prepared with all tools/parts needed
  • Greet resident by name, introduce yourself, and tell him/her what you will be working on.
  • Thoroughly clean up after yourself when finished with a job
  • Maintain personal cleanliness
  • Strip and Wax
• Must be able to conduct Fire Safety Training, drill and in-services. Understand and stay compliant with current NFPA Regulations.

Maintenance Technician OTHER DUTIES:

• Will be assigned to on-call duty every other weekend.
• Conducts or participates in staff training related to safety items as scheduled by the director
• Other duties as assigned
• Drive the truck or bus to pick up parts or transport equipment including but not limited to building equipment, furniture, fixtures, trash, and related materials.
• May be required to perform work duties pertaining to grounds or refurbishment.
• Report to building for Snow removal or Building Emergencies

Maintenance Technician QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

• High school diploma (technical schooling and/or training preferred).
• Valid Driver License, and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Report is required
• Minimum two to four years’ previous work experience with painting, and other general maintenance duties in a complex commercial, industrial, healthcare setting
• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively
• Must have a passion for excellent customer service

Maintenance Technician PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Moderate to heavy physical effort; may be exposed to the elements (heat, cold, rain, snow); work in area with high voltage electricity, hazardous equipment and moving parts; work on roof top and other high places; ability to set up and climb ladders safely with tools and equipment necessary for assigned work; must be able to lift 80 pounds; must be able to walk, stand and stoop for an extended period of time (over 80% of the time); exposure to a variety of chemicals and dust daily.
