Job summary

GMH Communities is seeking a Maintenance Technician for an on-site role in Champaign, IL. The position supports property upkeep, unit repairs, and grounds maintenance under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor.

The role requires responding to work orders, performing preventative maintenance, and assisting with Turn and Make Ready processes. On-call rotation and some weekend availability are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of maintenance experience required.
• Experience with multi-unit properties or hotels preferred.
• Experience with plumbing, electrical and HVAC preferred.
• HVAC certification preferred.
• Mechanical background is a plus.
• Good organizational and people skills a must.
• Must be able to lift and handle heavy equipment.
• Must live within 30 minutes of the property and have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the daily operations of the property.
• Respond to work orders per policy.
• Grounds and exterior upkeep as needed.
• Turn and Make Ready processes.
• Conduct regular health and safety inspections.
• Inspect units for Move In readiness.
• Ensure compliance with safety and fair housing laws.
• Hands-on maintenance tasks.
• Assist Maintenance Supervisor with property improvements.

Job Description:

The Maintenance Technician reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for assisting in all of the properties maintenance needs, physical appearance, and work orders. The Maintenance Technician’s primary responsibilities include hands on maintenance of the property including general upkeep and repair to units and the grounds, responding according to company policy to work order requests, turn and make ready process, and maintaining excellent resident relations through outstanding customer service. Rotating on call & some weekend availability required.
