Qualifications

  • Ability to multitask and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong customer service skills for both internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, patch, and paint walls, ceilings, and floors.
  • Perform minor plumbing repairs.
  • Conduct morning building checks and unlock doors.
  • Complete maintenance requests and documentation.

  • Plan and manage time effectively to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Complete maintenance requests and required documentation or system entries.
  • Perform snow and ice removal and general grounds maintenance, which may extend beyond normal schedules.

Join Our Facility Services & Maintenance Team
Maintenance Technician (Full-Time, Hourly)

The Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in keeping the Washington Pavilion safe, functional, and welcoming for guests, artists, and employees. This position supports building and grounds maintenance across our campus and contributes directly to the success of daily operations and major events.

Full-time, hourly position

Typical schedule: 8-hour shifts, Monday–Friday

Flexible availability required, including occasional nights, weekends, and holidays

Support for special events, including Sidewalk Arts Festival and SculptureWalk installation/uninstallation weekends

What You’ll Do
  • Repair, patch, and paint walls, ceilings, and floors
  • Perform minor plumbing repairs and parts replacement for sinks, toilets, and urinals
  • Repair theater seating, door locks, and hardware assemblies
  • Conduct morning building checks and unlock doors as scheduled
  • Communicate and collaborate with team members to resolve facilities-related issues
  • Plan and manage time effectively to complete tasks efficiently
  • Complete maintenance requests and required documentation or system entries
  • Perform snow and ice removal and general grounds maintenance, which may extend beyond normal schedules
What You’ll Need (Qualifications)
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Related hands‑on experience preferred (DIY, mechanic, landscaping, or similar background)
  • Experience or willingness to learn maintenance and repair of lawn sprinklers, fountains, and waterfall pumps
  • Drywall repair and painting experience strongly preferred
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting experience or willingness to learn (including use of a multimeter)
  • Ability to multitask and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong customer service skills for both internal and external customers
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs unassisted
  • Ability to walk, bend, stoop, and perform physical tasks regularly
  • Familiarity with PPE and safe work practices
  • Willingness to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (heat, rain, snow, cold); some manual removal required
