Job summary

Gates Corporation in Red Bay, AL seeks a Maintenance Technician for our plant operations. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, and install/repair electrical controls and piping.

Strong reading of schematics and fabrication skills are required, with own tools provided and Gates supplying specialty tools. The role requires a 5pm–5am schedule, 2-2-3, and legal US work authorization.

Qualifications

• 2- technical degree in Maintenance preferred; or 3 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in reading schematics and working with hydraulics, pneumatics, fabrication, and equipment installation.
• Must be able to work 5pm - 5am 2,2,3 schedule.
• Must provide own tools; Gates will provide specialty tools.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, repair industrial equipment, address safety concerns, and ensure the overall upkeep of the facility.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
• Utilize diagnostic tools and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.
• Repair or replace defective equipment components to minimize downtime.
• Suggest and implement improvements to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
• Install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring, motors, control panels, and PLC systems.
• Operate machine tools such as lathes, grinders, and welding equipment to fabricate or repair components.
• Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems for machine optimization.
• Install new equipment and work proficiently with high-pressure steam, air, water, and gas lines.
• Execute the installation of electrical and electronic controls, components, piping, and tubing with precision.
• Accurately track time and materials, maintain detailed records of completed work, and communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure seamless operations.

About You

• 2- technical degree in Maintenance background preferred; or 3 years of relevant experience
• Previous experience, with a strong background in industrial maintenance, mechanical troubleshooting, and basic PLC troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in reading schematics and working with hydraulics, pneumatics, fabrication, and equipment installation.
• Must be able to work 5pm - 5am 2,2,3 schedule
• Must provide own tools, Gates will provide specialty tools.
