Job summary

Gates Corporation in Red Bay, Alabama, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support preventive maintenance and repair of industrial equipment. The role requires reading schematics, diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic issues, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• Technical maintenance degree or equivalent hands-on training with solid industrial maintenance knowledge.
• Strong background in mechanical troubleshooting and reading schematics.
• Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, fabrication and installing equipment.
• Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting and electrical wiring fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repair industrial equipment to minimize downtime.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.
• Install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring, motors, control panels, and PLCs.
• Operate machine tools to fabricate or repair components and optimize systems.
• Keep accurate time and material records and communicate with the team.

Key Responsibilities (to name a few)

• Perform preventive maintenance, repair industrial equipment, address safety concerns, and ensure the overall upkeep of the facility.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
• Utilize diagnostic tools and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.
• Repair or replace defective equipment components to minimize downtime.
• Suggest and implement improvements to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency
• Install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring, motors, control panels, and PLC systems.
• Operate machine tools such as lathes, grinders, and welding equipment to fabricate or repair components.
• Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems for machine optimization.
• Install new equipment and work proficiently with high-pressure steam, air, water, and gas lines.
• Execute the installation of electrical and electronic controls, components, piping, and tubing with precision.
• Accurately track time and materials, maintain detailed records of completed work, and communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure seamless operations.

About You

• 2- technical degree in Maintenance background preferred; or 3 years of relevant experience
• Previous experience, with a strong background in industrial maintenance, mechanical troubleshooting, and basic PLC troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in reading schematics and working with hydraulics, pneumatics, fabrication, and equipment installation.
• Must be able to work 5pm - 5am 2,2,3 schedule
• Must provide own tools, Gates will provide specialty tools.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without sponsorship.
