Job summary

Gates Corporation in Red Bay, AL is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support preventive maintenance and repair activities across our industrial facilities. The role requires reading schematics, diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues, and installing electrical controls and plumbing for equipment upgrades.

Candidates should have a technical degree in maintenance or 3 years of relevant experience, with the ability to work a 5pm–5am 2-2-3 schedule and bring their own

Qualifications

• Technical degree in Maintenance preferred or 3 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in industrial maintenance, mechanical troubleshooting, and basic PLC troubleshooting.
• Ability to read schematics and work with hydraulics, pneumatics, fabrication, and equipment installation.
• Must be able to work 5pm - 5am 2,2,3 schedule.
• Must provide own tools; Gates will provide specialty tools.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, repair industrial equipment, address safety concerns, and ensure the overall upkeep of the facility.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
• Utilize diagnostic tools and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.
• Repair or replace defective equipment components to minimize downtime.
• Suggest and implement improvements to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
• Install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring, motors, control panels, and PLC systems.
• Operate machine tools such as lathes, grinders, and welding equipment to fabricate or repair components.
• Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems for machine optimization.
• Install new equipment and work proficiently with high-pressure steam, air, water, and gas lines.
• Execute the installation of electrical and electronic controls, components, piping, and tubing with precision.
• Accurately track time and materials, maintain detailed records of completed work, and communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure seamless operations.

About You

• 2- technical degree in Maintenance background preferred; or 3 years of relevant experience
• Previous experience, with a strong background in industrial maintenance, mechanical troubleshooting, and basic PLC troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in reading schematics and working with hydraulics, pneumatics, fabrication, and equipment installation.
• Must be able to work 5pm - 5am 2,2,3 schedule
• Must provide own tools, Gates will provide specialty tools.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without sponsorship.
