Job summary

Mondi Group is seeking a Maintenance Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair plant machinery and facilities. You will work under the direction of the Department Manager, Shift Supervisor, Team Lead and/or Production Manager to ensure uptime and smooth operations.

The role requires reading blueprints, electrical/mechanical skills, and experience with PLC/HVAC systems. A strong safety mindset and ability to lift heavy items are essential in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with trade certification or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years in manufacturing with mechanical, electrical and PLC/HVAC experience preferred.
  • Ability to read drawings, blueprints and schematics and follow manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on engines, motors, conveyors and production machines.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions and repair equipment promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Communicate with shift operators to ensure machinery runs properly.
  • Prepare parts for repairs and maintain clean, safe work areas.

Job description

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, general electric, troubleshooting and repair of all plant manufacturing machinery and facilities in a timely manner while taking direction from the Department Manager, Shift Supervisor, Team Lead and/or Production Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines, following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications, troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and others measuring instruments.
  • Controls downtime by ensuring routine preventive maintenance techniques are accomplished
  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment
  • Communicate with operators daily on shift to ensure machinery is running properly
  • Clean and maintain work areas in maintenance shop and around plant equipment after completing work
  • Respond to emergency maintenance request as required
  • Follow all plant rules and safety rules and regulations
  • Order parts for machinery for w/o’s on equipment needing repair
  • Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma/GED and completion of skilled trade certificate program, Electrical and/or Mechanic certificate or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience.
  • 4 plus years of manufacturing experience; mechanical and industrial skills with electrical, PLC HVAC experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend drawings, blueprints and schematics
  • Basic skills in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, piping, welding, and building maintenance required

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • 8-hour set shift – 1st 7am – 3:30pm, 2nd 3pm – 11:30pm, 3rd 11pm-7:30am
  • Monday – Friday
  • Weekends are required when needed
  • Manufacturing environment
  • This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
