Job summary

White Cap seeks a maintenance technician to inspect, repair, adjust and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment in the plant, performing preventive maintenance as needed.

Responsibilities include diagnosing faults, repairing equipment, completing reports, and upholding safety standards in a predominantly on-site setting in Parsons, Kansas. English communication and basic math are required; forklift certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate in English.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide) and use a tape measure.
• Able to read and understand safety operating procedures and use safety equipment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect mill equipment when malfunction occurs and determine if immediate shutdown is needed to minimize damage.
• Identify the cause of malfunction and determine best repair method.
• Perform repairs and adjust equipment as required.
• Complete required reports documenting maintenance activities.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations; perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

To inspect, repair, adjust, calibrate and maintain all electrical and mechanical equipment in plant. Performs preventive maintenance as required.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Inspects mill equipment at the time of malfunction, determines when immediate shut down of equipment is necessary to minimize damage.
• Determine cause of malfunction and determine best way of making repair.
• Make repairs as necessary. Adjusts equipment.
• Completes reports as required.
• Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
• All other duties as assigned.
• Follows all safety rules and regulations.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate in English.
• Ability to use basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplying, dividing, counting and the use of tape measure.
• Ability to read and understand all safety operating procedures and to use all safety features and equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

Other Skills and Abilities

• Must possess valid, current forklift certification.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Ability to use the required personal protective equipment at all times.
• Moderate computer skills.

Physical Demands

• Requires ability to walk, stand, carry materials, stoop, kneel, bend and twist.
• Maximum unassisted lift – 50 lbs.

Work Environment

• Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud and requires hearing protection.
• Safety shoes and eye protection are also required.
• Temperature environment 0 degrees to 110 degrees.
