Mid-Ameria Fittings in Overland Park, MO is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair production machinery and facility systems. You will support equipment reliability, safety, and efficiency through preventive and predictive maintenance on screw machines, CNC centers, and related equipment.

Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical power transmission, CNC equipment, and industrial electrical systems.

  • Demonstrated experience repairing CNC spindles, ball screws, linear motion systems, and machine tool assemblies.
  • Ability to perform machine alignments and verify machine accuracy using precision metrology equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and maintain FANUC controls including alarm diagnostics, servo systems, spindle drives, I/O systems, parameter backup and restoration, and CNC hardware diagnostics.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild CNC mechanical and spindle systems, including linear guides, spindle assemblies and bearings, drawbars, tool-clamping systems, encoders, lubrication systems, axis-drive components, and associated drive components.
  • Install, replace, align, and adjust ball screws, thrust and support bearings, couplings, and related motion-control components; perform machine leveling and axis alignment; and requalify machines following repairs.
  • Diagnose machine-tool issues including backlash, positioning errors, spindle runout, vibration, chatter, thermal growth, and machine geometry concerns.
  • Use CMMS software to track work orders, labor hours, and maintenance history.

Job description

The Maintenance Technician is a hands-on, advanced-level position responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production machinery, equipment, and facility systems within Mid-Ameria Fittings manufacturing environment in Overland Park, Missouri. This role supports equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and safety through preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities. The position focuses on Acme, Davenport, and Kingsbury screw machines, CNC machining centers, FANUC-controlled equipment, and facility support systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintenance & Repair—Manufacturing Equipment
  • Troubleshoot and maintain FANUC controls including alarm diagnostics, servo systems, spindle drives, I/O systems, parameter backup and restoration, and CNC hardware diagnostics.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild CNC mechanical and spindle systems, including linear guides, spindle assemblies and bearings, drawbars, tool-clamping systems, encoders, lubrication systems, axis-drive components, and associated drive components.
  • Install, replace, align, and adjust ball screws, thrust and support bearings, couplings, and related motion-control components; perform machine leveling and axis alignment; and requalify machines following repairs.
  • Diagnose machine-tool issues including backlash, positioning errors, spindle runout, vibration, chatter, thermal growth, and machine geometry concerns.
  • Utilize precision measuring equipment including dial indicators, micrometers, test bars, machinist levels, and laser alignment systems.
  • Execute and document planned preventive and predictive maintenance activities to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Use CMMS software to track work orders, labor hours, and maintenance history.
  • Perform advanced mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting and repair on production equipment, including Acme, Davenport, and Kingsbury screw machines; CNC machining centers such as Miltronics vertical machining centers and Okuma turning centers; and conventional and automated assembly and packaging equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair motor controls, PLC-based systems, and industrial electrical systems up to 480V.
  • Read and interpret complex electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals.
  • Perform GMAW, GTAW, and SMAW welding and light fabrication for equipment repair and modification as needed.
Facilities & Safety
  • Perform facility maintenance including HVAC, plumbing, lighting, compressors, water systems, and structural repairs.
  • Keep the maintenance shop clean and organized and maintain appropriate inventory levels for critical spare parts.
  • Strictly adhere to and enforce all company and OSHA safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum five to seven years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Strong proficiency troubleshooting CNC machine tools, FANUC controls, and automatic screw machines.
  • Experience rebuilding CNC spindles and replacing ball screws preferred.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs or ladders, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, varying temperatures, and machining coolants.
