POSITION: Maintenance Technician
REPORTS TO: Manager of Facilities
STATUS: Full-Time – Hourly – Non-Exempt
Overview: The Maintenance Technician is a crucial member of our team responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of facilities and equipment on site. This role involves conducting routine inspections, performing repairs, implementing preventive maintenance measures, and addressing emergencies promptly. The Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in maintaining a safe and functional environment for employees, clients, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of various machinery, equipment, and systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues in a timely and efficient manner.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks and create maintenance schedules to prevent potential breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
- Inspect and maintain the physical condition of the facility, identifying and addressing safety hazards, cleanliness, and structural concerns.
- Handle minor carpentry, painting, and general repairs to maintain the overall appearance and functionality of the facility.
- Performs grounds maintenance duties, including mowing, edging, trimming, debris removal, raking, and pressure washing, to maintain the appearance, cleanliness, and safety of facility grounds.
- Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs and maintenance as needed.
- Review, prioritize, and respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment inspections to track maintenance history and identify trends utilizing our facility maintenance tracking systems.
- Prepare regular maintenance reports for supervisors, highlighting completed tasks, pending issues, and recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and guidelines.
- Stay updated with industry best practices, safety procedures and emerging technologies to enhance maintenance processes.
- Reviews and responds to employee-submitted repair, maintenance, and security-related facility ticket requests, including issues requiring specialized knowledge or experience; assess requests, coordinate appropriate actions, and communicate status updates and resolutions to employees.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in maintenance-related fields is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician or in a similar role, demonstrating a strong understanding of maintenance principles and practices.
- Proficiency in repairing and maintaining mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and protocols.
- Ability to perform job duties requiring prolonged standing, frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Availability for flexible work hours and on-call duty for emergencies.
- Preferred: Valid electrical certification or license.
- Preferred: Valid HVAC certification or license.
