Location: Olive Branch, MS

Working model: Full Time, In-Person with Occasional Travel

Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Metro Logics, Inc. (Metro) is a privately owned medical logistics service company located in Olive Branch, MS, with additional facilities in Nevada and Utah. We provide temperature-sensitive storage, warehousing and rapid distribution services for perishable foods, pharmaceutical products and medical devices and supplies. Metro manages highly regulated, temperature controlled and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) compliant warehouses.

About the role

The Maintenance Technician’s primary role is to execute and document both facility and equipment maintenance activities. This includes the life cycle management of the following systems/equipment: HVAC, cold storage (walk-in and reach-in), back-up generators, environmental monitoring systems (temperature, humidity, ammonia, etc.), security systems (video monitoring, access control, intrusion detection system, etc.), fire suppression systems, material handling equipment, etc. Due to the highly regulated environment and required cGMP compliance, the timely and accurate documentation of all planned and unplanned maintenance activities is critical to the role of Maintenance Technician.

Metro is 24 hours / 7 days a week emergency response customer service organization storing critical inventory. As a result, the Maintenance Technician may be called in as required during this timeframe.

Responsibilities

  1. Performs tasks to support the effective operation of all equipment and facility systems
    1. Ensures that the facility and equipment is clean and well maintained
    2. Conducts scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance of systems and equipment, implementing improvements as necessary
    3. Responds to unplanned maintenance needs as they arise, assessing the urgency of the issue and reacting appropriately, under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager
    4. Assesses and monitors the effectiveness and redundancy of all critical facility equipment and systems
  2. Assists the Maintenance Manager in the overseeing of and ensuring professional business relations with vendors, contractors and trade professionals
    1. Coordinates and observes vendor activity on site
    2. Ensures all relevant vendors meet Metro’s qualification requirements and maintains relevant documentation accordingly
  3. Assists the Maintenance Manager in maintaining cGMP compliance within Metro’s Maintenance function
    1. Contributes to the documentation of all maintenance, repairs, validation and calibration records in Metro’s asset management software
    2. Collaborates with Metro’s Quality department to ensure all incidents and deviations are documented and resolved in a timely and effective manner
    3. Maintains current training on all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and adheres to them in day-to-day activities
    4. Makes suggestions regarding improving existing SOPs, seeking continuous improvement
    5. Assists in editing and developing new SOPs for the Maintenance operations
  4. Assists with other projects and tasks as directed, such as construction, organization, facility designs, etc.

Qualifications and Relevant Experience

      1. Three or more years of related experience
      2. Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant experience, advanced training or an equivalent combination thereof will be considered
      3. Related experience:
    1. HVAC
    2. Plumbing
    3. Electrical
    4. Low Voltage
    5. Building Controls (climate, security, etc.)
    6. Construction
    7. Project Management
    8. Custodial
    9. Heavy and medium duty machine operation
    10. Material handling equipment operation
  1. Other industry certifications, such as Hazmat, Osha, etc. preferred

Skills

  1. Diligent worker that can stay on task while managing multiple work orders
  2. Pride and ownership mentality, i.e., do not walk past issues, big or small
  3. Dependable, i.e., Metro stores critical inventory, so inoperability is not an option
  4. Strong organizational abilities needed to manage and prioritize tasks
  5. Strong ability to understand and operate relevant software (asset management, temperature monitoring, Microsoft365, etc.)
  6. Attention to detail is critical, equally in the execution and documentation of a task

Physical Activities and Working Conditions

  1. Heavy work; exerts up to 100 lbs. force occasionally
  2. Frequent local travel and occasional out-of-town travel
  3. Exposure to seasonal outdoor elements, ambient and refrigerated/frozen storage environments
