Job Description

Perform a wide variety of general building maintenance, repair functions, and equipment tests related to the care and maintenance of the Health System's mechanical systems, building structure, and Fire and Safety equipment. Adhere to departmental policies and procedures, ensuring safety and compliance with regulatory agencies.

Job Responsibilities

1. Construct, repair, replace, and maintain structural woodwork and masonry for the interior and exterior of the building, using both hand and power tools.
2. Repair furniture, equipment, and machinery.
3. Install and repair minor electrical equipment and lighting fixtures.
4. Perform minor plumbing jobs.
5. Repair roofs, roads, sidewalks, and interior and exterior stairs and steps.
6. Make minor repairs to heating, air conditioning, ventilating equipment, and perform small-scale painting.
7. Provide cost-reduction recommendations to management that adhere to policies and procedures for electrical, fire safety, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
8. Assist in snow removal. Serve as a member of the Fire Response Team and respond to emergencies.
9. Respond to facilities emergencies as needed.
10. Perform related duties as required.

Job Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience.
• Certified by FDNYC to conduct sprinkler, smoke detectors, fire doors, standpipe, fire hoses, fire pump, and extinguisher tests required.
• Ability to use tools related to carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, and mechanical trades.
• FDNYC certification for G17 Medical Gas and G60 preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions.
