Job summary

Ultra Machining Company (UMC) in Monticello, MN is seeking a Maintenance Technician to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

The position requires an Associate’s degree or related experience and 3+ years in manufacturing, with strong problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills. Proficiency with MS Office and documenting maintenance work is expected. Hours are Tue–Fri, 6:00 am–4:30 pm, onsite in Monticello.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production equipment per safety/maintenance programs.
• Keep CNCs and mechanical equipment in optimal condition; diagnose failures and plan repairs.
• Preventive maintenance performed with machinists; prioritize tasks by urgency.
• Utilize manuals, schematics and control-system knowledge for troubleshooting.
• Source necessary parts and estimate repair costs to minimize downtime.

About The Role

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production equipment according to safety and maintenance programs. This role supports the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.

What You’ll Do

Equipment Maintenance and Repair

• Keep CNC’s and other mechanical equipment in optimal operating condition.
• Diagnose equipment failures and develop effective plans to restore equipment functionality quickly and efficiently.
• Maintain flexibility for emergency and unscheduled repairs outside regular hours.

Preventive Maintenance

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on equipment, working closely with machinists to ensure all tasks are completed accurately and on time.
• Process incoming work requests and prioritize tasks based on urgency and operational needs.
• Utilize company software systems to update equipment data and records accurately.

Troubleshooting and Technical Support

• Utilize equipment manuals, schematics, and knowledge of control systems to aid in troubleshooting and repairs.
• Operate and interpret inspection equipment, such as dial indicators, squares, and test bars, to verify equipment precision.

Parts Sourcing and Cost Estimation

• Estimate repair costs and source necessary parts and services promptly to minimize equipment downtime.

Requirements

Education And Experience

• Associate’s degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial maintenance, or related field or work experience in place of education.
• 3+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment conducting machine service, rebuild, and repairs.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged standing with occasional twisting (80-90% of the workday).
• Various sitting periods throughout the shift.
• Pushing/pulling carts and/or pallet jacks.
• Continuous use of hands and upper extremities in fine and gross manipulation using various wrist positions and grip/pinch spans to operate equipment, push buttons, carry boxes, push carts, etc.
• Frequent firm grip with tools requiring torque to tighten machine parts, tooling, and fixtures.
• Dexterity with computers - the ability to type and use a mouse.
• Frequent lifting of materials up to 40 lbs., occasional lifting to 75 lbs.

Salary Description $28.27-$34.44/ Hour
