Job summary

Smurfit WestRock plc in Mishawaka, IN is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the 2nd or 3rd shift. Pay ranges from $28 to $37 per hour with a $0.60/hr shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts.

The role focuses on safe preventative maintenance, installation, service, repair, and electrical support of multiple machines in a manufacturing environment. Candidates should have mechanical/electrical experience, and be able to read electrical and mechanical drawings. Overtime flexibility is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, military training and/or technical school preferred.
• 2-3 years in troubleshooting industrial electrical control systems down to component level.
• Operational knowledge of automated industrial machinery, including motors, servos, pumps, drives, relays, 3‑phase power, communication devices, industrial/electronic controls, and power transmission systems.
• Good understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to install and set up both A/C and D/C drives (preferred but not required).
• PLC troubleshooting and problem‑solving ability (preferred but not required).
• Practical mechanical & electrical aptitude.
• Must be able to read and interpret both electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Working knowledge of power transmission equipment and bearings.
• Basic welding skills preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with pumps, both air and electric.
• Ability to install and troubleshoot basic 3‑phase motor control circuits.
• Some knowledge of the various types of sensors and limit switches.
• Familiar with computers and Microsoft software.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a mature and professional manner.
• Ability to work flexible hours, overtime.

The Opportunity

On the 2nd or 3rd shift: Primary duties include providing safe preventative maintenance, installation, service, repair, timely electrical support and troubleshooting of multiple operating machines within a manufacturing industrial environment. The ideal candidate will have mechanical and electrical experience (preferred), a familiarity with hydraulics and pneumatics, and basic troubleshooting experience with proven ability in machine repair.
