Job summary

Morris Packaging, a manufacturer of sustainable, flexible packaging products, is seeking an industrial maintenance technician. You will troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment on the plant floor, ensuring minimal downtime and reliable operation in a climate-controlled facility.

The role emphasizes reading blueprints, following safety procedures, and performing preventive maintenance. PLC experience is preferred, but not required, and candidates should be willing to work varying shifts

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and write English.

  • Excellent mechanical aptitude.
  • Familiarity with electrical aspects and troubleshooting electronics.
  • Ability to read blueprints and assembly instructions provided by manufacturers and our engineering department.
  • Independent/self-starter and willing to perform other related duties as required.
  • Able to work overtime as required.
  • Execute with verbal work instructions.
  • Enjoy a challenging work environment.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and control systems a plus.
  • Packaging industry experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment by observing mechanical devices in operation and listening for problems.
  • Inform production workers of routine preventative maintenance techniques to control downtime.
  • Build assemblies of company assets and install as needed.
  • Install new equipment according to manufacturer specifications and management requirements.
  • Design, implement and manage preventative maintenance programs for all mechanical equipment and tools.
  • Perform daily safety and functionality inspections of all machinery.
  • Review the need for and request tools, equipment and supplies necessary to perform duties.
  • Maintain inventories of equipment, parts and supplies; monitor stock levels.

To be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing manufacturing equipment by observing mechanical devices in operation as well as listening for any problems.

Essential Functions:
  • 3 to 6 years of industrial maintenance or similar environment performing comparable tasks as required for this position.
  • PLC experience preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventative maintenance techniques.
  • Monitoring for compliance.
  • Build assemblies of company assets and install as needed.
  • Install new equipment according to manufacturer specifications and management requirements.
  • Design, implement and manage preventative maintenance programs for all mechanical equipment and tools.
  • Install, maintain, repair, adjust, troubleshoot, and inspect equipment and tools.
  • Perform daily safety and functionality inspections of all machinery.
  • Review the need for and request tools, equipment and supplies necessary to perform duties.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating
  • Communication with all levels of the organization.
  • Organizational skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be primarily in our climate-controlled facility. The plant floor is subject to vibration and equipment noise leading to a loud environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and might also be exposed to outside conditions, tight spaces, cleaning solvents and heights. There is a moderate to high demand for tight deadlines. This position will experience moderate interruption in workflow, starting and stopping product changeovers.

The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen.

  • Continuous (6 or more hours per day) bending, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, reaching, lifting, and grasping.
  • Continuous (6 or more hours per day) talking, listening, teaching, and repetitive motion, hand/wrist movement.
  • Continuous (6 or more hours per day) standing and walking.
  • Frequent (1 to 3 hours per day) work in a stooped position.
  • Good eyesight, normal hearing.
  • Ability to move and lift objects, frequently 50 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days, nights and hours may vary depending on assigned shift and productions requirements. This position may require significant work hours beyond the normal workday based on the demands of the business cycle or customer volume of business.

Travel:

Should not be required.
