Job summary

Presbyterian Villages of Michigan is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician for Lynn Street Manor in Onaway, Michigan. The role involves installing, repairing and maintaining machinery, building systems and grounds to support quality living for seniors.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of maintenance experience, a High School diploma or GED, and a valid driver’s license. Certifications in electrical, plumbing or HVAC are a plus; on-call availability is required.

Responsibilities

Inspect grounds, facilities, and equipment to determine maintenance needs.
Operate, test, and repair mechanical devices, machinery, and tools.
Perform preventive maintenance to keep machines, systems, and buildings running smoothly.
Diagnose mechanical problems and consult manuals for repairs.
Install and repair electrical, gas appliances, plumbing, fixtures and systems.
Maintain building surfaces, doors, floors, woodwork and fixtures.
Provide landscaping, snow removal, and safety for employees and residents.
Move heavy furniture and equipment following safety procedures.
Input work requests in the electronic system and track progress.
Follow Presbyterian Villages policies and safety procedures.

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for installs, repairs and/or maintaining machinery, equipment, physical structures, building systems and outside environment. Assists with the overall upkeep of the community and grounds. Excellent opportunity for a team player that can provide maintenance support in a professional and confidential manner. Experience working in senior housing industry plus.

Responsibilities

Inspect grounds, facilities, and equipment routinely to determine necessity of repairs or maintenance.
Inspect, operate, test, maintain and repair mechanical devices, machinery, equipment and tools.
Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
Maintain and repair specialized equipment and machinery.
Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking repair manuals or parts catalogs, as necessary.
Install, assemble, repair and maintain electrical and gas appliances, equipment, systems, fixtures, lights, electronic components, plumbing systems and fixtures.
Paint or repair surfaces, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, or other parts of building structures.
Maintain by providing landscaping (trimming, cutting, weeding, & planting) and snow removal (plowing, shoveling, and salting) to ensure their appearance and safety for employees, residents and visitors.
Fabricate, install, repair, maintain and replace structural items such as counters, cabinets, partitions, floor and ceiling tile, gutters, roofs, etc.
Prepare assigned areas for various activities and events by clearing and/or rearranging furniture, setting up equipment, removing trash, etc.
Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and looking for hazards.
Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies following safety procedures.
Input work requests and detailed information in electronic system.
Install equipment to improve the energy or operational efficiency of buildings.
Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings and training opportunities in order to keep informed on current information and skill development.
Follow established policies and procedures including but not limited to Presbyterian Villages policies and procedures, Safety policies and procedures, Federal, state and local regulations.
All other duties as assigned.
