Job summary

Advantic Building Group is seeking a Maintenance Technician to own day-to-day upkeep of shop equipment, including preventive maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting. You’ll work on mechanical, electrical, and control-system issues, repair components, and help bring new equipment online in a hands-on role on the manufacturing floor.

You’ll collaborate with production teams and outside vendors to identify problems, implement practical solutions, and maintain records of maintenance activity

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 3 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing, fabrication, industrial, or similar environment.
• Experience performing preventive maintenance and equipment inspections.
• Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.

Responsibilities

Job description

At Advantic Building Group, the work we do on the manufacturing floor directly supports some of the most demanding construction projects in the industry. Our equipment has to work, and when it doesn't, production feels it.

As our Maintenance Technician, you'll play a critical role in keeping our manufacturing and fabrication operations safe, reliable, and moving forward. You'll own the day-to-day maintenance of our shop equipment, from preventive maintenance and inspections to troubleshooting unexpected breakdowns and helping bring new equipment online.

This is a hands-on role for someone who likes figuring out why something isn't working, fixing it, and making it better the next time.

Your work will have a direct impact on production. Effective maintenance means less downtime, safer equipment, better reliability, and a manufacturing team that can do its job without unnecessary interruptions.

You'll work closely with production employees, team leads, leadership, and outside service providers to identify problems, determine root causes, and develop practical solutions. You'll not be tucked away waiting for a work order; you'll be part of the operation and an important resource for the people working on the floor.

Over time, we expect this role to help us become more proactive about maintenance by identifying recurring issues, improving preventive maintenance practices, and helping us get more reliability out of our equipment.

What You'll Actually Do

• Partner with production and leadership to identify equipment and process issues and determine practical solutions.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and help manage spare parts, tools, and supplies.
• Support installation, setup, and commissioning of new equipment.
• Coordinate with outside vendors and service providers when specialized expertise is needed.
• Apply hands-on fabrication and mechanical skills—including cutting, drilling, shaping, and assembly—to repair or modify equipment and fixtures.
• Help train operators and floor employees on basic equipment care and safe operating practices.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe maintenance area and properly care for tools and equipment.
• Stay current on equipment technology, maintenance practices, and opportunities to improve reliability.

What to Expect

This is a hands-on manufacturing role in an active fabrication environment. Some days will be predictable: completing scheduled preventive maintenance, inspecting equipment, and addressing small issues before they become big ones.

Other days won't be.

A machine may go down in the middle of production, priorities may shift quickly, or you may uncover a problem that requires some creativity to solve. You'll need to be comfortable moving between planned maintenance and unexpected problems without losing sight of safety or quality.

You'll work alongside people who are focused on getting the job done, and your ability to communicate clearly with production and leadership will matter just as much as your technical ability.

What You Bring

Required

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, industrial, or similar environment.
• Experience performing preventive maintenance and equipment inspections.
• Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.

Preferred

• Technical or vocational training in industrial maintenance, electrical technology, mechatronics, or a related field.
• Associate degree in a related technical field.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and control systems in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with fabrication, machining, welding, or related hands-on mechanical work.

Physical & Work Environment

This position works in an active manufacturing and fabrication environment and requires the ability to perform the essential functions of the role, including standing and walking for extended periods and reaching, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing as needed to inspect, maintain, and repair equipment.

The role may require frequently lifting or moving materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Employees must be able to communicate effectively through speaking and hearing and use visual abilities necessary to safely inspect equipment, read technical information, and perform maintenance tasks.
