Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) at the East Mississippi Correctional Facility in Meridian, MS is hiring for a full-time maintenance role. Pay is $16/hr with standard M-F, 8AM-5PM shifts at 10641 US-80, Meridian.

The position involves facility repairs, preventative maintenance, and supervising inmate workers in a secure environment. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, technical training, and three years of related experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training and general repair knowledge preferred.
• Must be computer proficient and able to operate data processing equipment.
• Valid driver’s license in Mississippi with clean driving record, unless waived by management.

Responsibilities

• Repair or replace faulty light fixtures, outlets and fuses as directed.
• Perform minor construction and repair or structural woodwork.
• Install window shades or coverings, security locks, etc.
• Repair or replace plumbing fixtures, washers, seals, etc.
• Prepare surfaces for finishing, including painting as directed.
• Direct inmates assigned to facility maintenance.
• Conduct preventive maintenance checks of buildings and equipment.
• Perform routine checks of air conditioning systems.
• Provide on-call support in emergencies or equipment breakdowns.
• Assist with cleaning, transportation and moving of equipment.

Essential Functions

• Repair or replace faulty or damaged light fixtures, outlets and fuses as directed.
• Perform minor construction and repair or structural woodwork.

• Help prepare surface for finishing, including painting, as directed.
• Direct inmates assigned to facility maintenance.
• Perform preventive maintenance checks of buildings as equipment.
• Perform routine schedules checks of air conditioning systems.
• Perform on-call responsibilities in emergency situations or equipment breakdowns.
• Provide cleaning, transportation, and moving of equipment as needed.
• Promote the development of positive social skills among inmates through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
• Maintain accountability of inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.
• Recommend contracted assistance when on-center assistance when on-center repair is not possible.
• Operate data processing equipment.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education And Experience Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent, technical training and general knowledge of repair and maintenance required and three (3) years related experience preferred. Must be computer proficient. Valid driver’s license in the state of Mississippi with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Post Hire Requirements

Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.
