Who we need:

We are seeking a motivated, experienced Maintenance Technician. This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Facilities Manager, based in McLean, VA. Candidates must have excellent communication and customer service skills, be professional, reliable, and reside within 30 miles of the community for prompt response. Compensation is commensurate with experience.

What you’ll do:

The Maintenance Technician assists with the physical plant, including preventive, responsive, routine, and emergency maintenance across the property. Under the Facilities Manager's guidance, tasks include:

  • Performing maintenance such as painting, electrical, plumbing, flooring, carpentry, HVAC, window/glass, door/lock repairs, and general repairs in common areas.
  • Completing work orders and maintaining grounds and common areas.
  • Handling special projects as assigned.
  • Providing in-unit maintenance like minor repairs, appliance troubleshooting, and handyman services.
  • Responding to after-hours emergency maintenance calls.
  • Maintaining positive relationships with staff, vendors, and residents.
  • Communicating effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Adhering to safety policies and procedures.
  • Working with the Facilities Manager to maintain property value and appearance.

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum 2 years of community maintenance or related trade experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and use ladders exceeding 8 feet.
  • Comfort working outdoors in extreme temperatures.
  • Proficiency with maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and communicate effectively.
  • Organized, customer-oriented, and detail-focused.
  • Basic computer skills.
