Job summary

SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital – Madison is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support the facilities team in a full-time night shift role. Perform routine repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment and building systems.

You will work from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM, participate in light carpentry, basic plumbing and electrical tasks, document work orders, and help maintain a safe, clean work environment.

Qualifications

  • One year experience in maintenance or facilities.
  • Strong mechanical skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to read and follow work orders and manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Performs repairs according to work orders and documents tasks.
  • Maintains basic plumbing, electrical, and appliance repairs.
  • Performs carpentry tasks such as drywall, walls, flooring, cabinetry and shelving.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work environment and handles material movement.
  • Enters work orders and tracks task completion in the system.
  • Researches parts and solutions for problems.
  • Engages in safe work practices and stays alert.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Join Our Team at St. Mary's Hospital – Madison! St. Mary's Hospital is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support our facilities team in a full-time night shift role. Candidates with strong mechanical experience are encouraged to apply!

Job Summary

Performs routine repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment and facilities. Assists with complex and non-routine maintenance tasks.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Performs repairs according to work orders or verbal instructions and compiles proper documentation following established policies and procedures. Identifies and requests parts and components needed to complete tasks.
  • Performs basic plumbing and electrical repairs and appliance repairs including, but not limited to: changing light bulbs, replacing ballasts and installation of light fixtures.
  • Performs basic carpentry and assists with minor construction projects including, but not limited to installation and or repair of drywall, walls, flooring, ceramic tile cabinetry, countertops, shelving, painting.
  • Assists in maintaining a clean and safe work environment including, but not limited to: debris/trash removal, heavy lifting/moving of materials and equipment, floor-sweeping and material storage.
  • Enter work orders, documents tasks and closes work orders in the electronic record-keeping system.
  • Performs research to find products and solutions to problems.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent reaching, gripping and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Frequent use of vision for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more).
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, crawling, kneeling, sitting, squatting, twisting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Rare use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
  • Rare driving.
