Macon County R-1 School District in Missouri is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain district buildings, grounds, and equipment. The role supports a safe, functional learning environment for students and staff, performing routine and preventive maintenance across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with preferred experience in facilities maintenance and knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.

• Prior experience in building, mechanical, or facilities maintenance preferred; trade certification a plus.
• Knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems helpful.
• Ability to read and follow work orders, schematics, and safety instructions.

Responsabilidades

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Complete work orders for building repairs, furniture/equipment assembly, and minor renovations.
• Assist with grounds maintenance, snow removal, and seasonal tasks.
• Inspect facilities to identify safety hazards and maintenance needs; report findings promptly.
• Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and district vehicles safely.
• Support custodial and operations staff with set-ups for school events and emergencies.
• Follow all OSHA, EPA, fire safety, and district safety procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies as assigned.
• Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.

Macon R-1 School District is accepting applications for a Maintenance Technician .

The Maintenance Technician helps maintain and repair district buildings, grounds, and equipment to ensure a safe, functional, and attractive learning environment for students, staff, and the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems


• Complete work orders for building repairs, furniture/equipment assembly, and minor renovations


• Assist with grounds maintenance, snow removal, and seasonal tasks


• Inspect facilities to identify safety hazards and maintenance needs; report findings promptly


• Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and district vehicles safely


• Support custodial and operations staff with set-ups for school events and emergencies

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Ability to read and follow work orders, schematics, and safety instructions


• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work in varied weather conditions, and stand/walk for extended periods


• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation


• Team-oriented attitude, dependable, and willing to learn new skills

This position is a 12 month/260 day position.
