With little to no direct supervision, the Fleet Technician III is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all Mobile Storage rental fleet equipment, including containers, ground level offices, office trailers, and/or modular buildings, in a highly skilled, safe, and professional manner. This position requires an employee to possess a high degree of independent judgment and may specialize in a specific skilled trade. The Fleet Technician III must be capable of effectively performing all duties of an Equipment Associate and Fleet Technician I & II.

What You'll Do

• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of Mobile Storage quality standards.
• Proficiency in HVAC, electric, plumbing, or welding diagnostics and repairs.
• Skills in removing, repairing, and installing floors, tiles, roofs, walls, framing, doors, leaks, caulking, windows, screens, painting, filters/dampers, replacing skin, trim, tagging of equipment, and installing/removing UR decals and equipment numbers.
• Hooking mobile office to power sources.
• Checking tire pressure and lugs.
• Complete assignments on time and within budget, documented on Work Orders.
• Travel to customer sites to set office trailers and assist drivers as needed.
• Supervise, train, and organize work duties of other Equipment Associates and Fleet Technicians I & II.
• Perform equipment modifications according to manufacturer’s specifications and building codes.
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of shop, yard, tools, and supplies following Mobile Storage and United Rentals 5S guidelines.
• Inspect and process inbound and outbound equipment following Rental Flow procedures.
• Operate forklifts safely.
• Show and exhibit fleet to customers when needed.
• Safely install and uninstall VAPs as per reservation requirements.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Trade skill training or equivalent experience.
• Active applicable state driver’s license.
• 5+ years in construction and equipment/tools maintenance and repair.
• Basic verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong construction knowledge and background.
• Leadership, teamwork, and customer service skills.
• Time management skills.
• Proficiency with required information technology.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment, tools, and warranty processes.
• Ability to record time and materials accurately.
• Ability to coach and mentor less experienced staff.
• Lift up to 45 pounds.
