Job summary

Amrize is seeking a Plant Maintenance Technician in East Chicago, IN to keep plant equipment in a ready state and perform inspections and preventative maintenance.

You will prepare daily/weekly reports, diagnose and repair a wide range of fixed mechanical equipment, and regularly work overtime. Strong mechanical aptitude and experience in heavy industry are required.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of basic mechanical aptitude and plant maintenance.
• Experience with replacing screens, welding and cutting torch work.
• Ability to operate a skid steer and man lift is a plus.
• Proficiency with hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic systems.
• Welding/fabrication skills are highly desirable.
• Ability to work overtime and follow safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on plant equipment following service intervals.
• Inspect equipment and perform necessary repairs or adjustments.
• Address emergency repairs to minimize downtime.
• Adhere to safety, environmental and company policies and document tasks.
• Walk the plant to inspect mechanical equipment and parts needing repair.
• Maintain crushers, conveyors, pumps, screens and bearings.
• Conduct job safety analyses before any diagnosis or repair.
• Promote safety culture and PPE usage compliance.

Maintenance Technician

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining plant equipment in a state of readiness.Performs the appropriate plant production equipment inspections and preventative maintenance. Prepares allrequired daily/weekly department operating reports. This position will be responsible for the diagnosis, repairand maintenance of a wide variety of fixed mechanical equipment, systems and machinery. This person willregularly work overtime.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

• Schedules and performs preventative maintenance on plant equipment by following the manufacture’srecommended service intervals and company procedures. Maintains an inventory of regularly requiredreplacement parts.
• Inspects condition and operation of plant equipment and performs necessary repairs and adjustments.Reports required repairs or other findings to Supervisor.
• Performs required emergency repairs on production equipment required to address plant breakdowns.
• Adheres to all safety, environmental and company policies and procedures in completing daily tasks, andcompletes all required paperwork in a timely fashion.
• Routinely walk the plant to inspect mechanical equipment and parts and systems in need of repair orreplacement.
• Maintain crushers, conveyor belts, pulleys, pumps, screens and screen bearings.
• Prior to undertaking any diagnosis or repair, conduct a job safety analysis to identify and isolate any hazards such as energy (lock-out, tag-out), working at heights, confined spaces, etc.
• Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Required Work Experience: Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in mechanical repair, installation,and construction in heavy industry.

Additional Requirements:

• Must have a working knowledge of basic mechanical aptitude, general plant maintenance experience. Changing screens, welding, cutting torch, wrenching (hand tools).
• Operating a skid steer, man lift is a plus.
• Proficient in hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic systems.
• Welding/fabrication skills highly desirable.
• Ability to work overtime
• Basic computer skills
