Job summary

Family Tree Nursery is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support our operations by troubleshooting equipment, performing routine upkeep, and collaborating with team members to keep our properties in top condition. The role requires a can-do attitude and readiness to assist other departments as demand changes.

Candidates should have basic horticultural knowledge, be able to operate pallet jacks and other equipment, and be at least 18 years old.

Qualifications

• Basic horticultural and product knowledge.
• Ability to operate pallet jack, forklift, skid steer, cart tug or other equipment with a clean driving record.
• Must be 18+ years of age.

Responsibilities

• Work in varied weather conditions including hot, humid, cold or wet and direct sun exposure.
• Lift, carry, and maneuver items up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques.
• Work on surfaces such as gravel, concrete, mud, dirt, etc.
• Be available to work agreed upon schedule.
• Stand and walk for extended periods with breaks as required by law.
• Operate effectively in a fast-paced setting with multiple teams.
• Collaborate with a core group to achieve common goals.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment, machinery, and facilities.
• Execute tasks as assigned by leadership.
• Load and unload trucks and deliveries.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by store leadership.

The Maintenance Technician must be able to troubleshoot various equipment issues requiring attention to detail, help with property upkeep and have a can-do attitude. This role may also assist other departments as seasonal demand requires and perform tasks that are out of the ordinary as directed by leadership. This role will not only work on tasks with the maintenance team but will also work on jobs with various other Team Members, requiring collaboration, strong support and teamwork. A Maintenance Technicianmust have the ability to perform various tasks and collaborate with different groups to ensure the success of their department, with the ultimate goal of the success of the entire company.

Essential Functions:

• Work in a variety of weather conditions including hot, humid, cold or wet, and direct sun exposure.
• This position routinely requires employees to individually lift, carry, and maneuver heavy or awkward items that may exceed 50 pounds. Employees must use proper lifting techniques, follow all training and safety procedures, and exercise sound judgment when determining whether a load can be handled safely. When an item is too heavy, bulky, or unstable to lift alone, employees are expected to request assistance or use available mechanical aids to prevent injury.

• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical or electrical issues.

• Possess welding experience (desired not required).
• Be on-time, prepared, and present for every shift.
• Execute daily work lists as assigned.
• Load and unload trucks, hard goods, customer deliveries, etc.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by store leadership.
