Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintenance of PLC-controlled production machinery and equipment.
  • Inspect and maintain machinery to prevent breakdowns.
  • Diagnose and repair industrial saws, roll/press machines, blasting/painting equipment, and material handling equipment.
  • Interface with OEMs for advanced troubleshooting.
  • Disassemble and replace defective parts; clean and lubricate components.
  • Repair electrical apparatus and wiring on machinery.
  • Lay out and install pipe systems and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment; repair gauges and valves.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records (predictive, preventive, reactive).
  • Repair building systems including doors, HVAC, lighting, and electrical systems.

Job description

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to the Maintenance Manager.

BACKGROUND

GapVax, Inc. is a Johnstown, PA manufacturer of vacuum trucks, municipal sewer cleaning trucks, trailer-mounted jetter equipment and related equipment.

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining production and facility equipment. The Maintenance Technician assists with production as needed and ensures all repairs are being performed safely in accordance with industry standards and best practices.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Repair and Maintenance of PLC controlled production machineryand industrial equipment
  • Regularly inspects and maintains machinery and equipment toprevent breakdowns or malfunctions
  • Diagnoses and repairs machinery such industrial saws, roll/press metal forming machines, blast & painting equipment, material handling equipment.
  • Interfaces with OEM for advanced troubleshooting when required.
  • Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install replacement parts. Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Repair/replace electrical apparatus, (e.g. contactors, thermal overloads, transformers and wiring and electrical components) on machinery.
  • Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repair gauges, valves, pressure regulators, hoses and related equipment.
  • Perform maintenance & maintain accurate files of that predictive, preventive, and reactive maintenance performed.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment. (e.g. garage doors, HVAC & Ventilation Systems, minor Roofing/Downspout repairs, Office/Shop/exterior lighting & electrical systems)
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Ability to repair electrically powered hand tools and machinery.
  • Ability to read/interpret electrical schematics including:
  • Power supply voltages
  • 480 volts single & 3 phase
  • 220V single phase
  • 208V – single & 3 phase
  • 110V single phase
  • Control voltage
  • 110V AC & 24V DC
  • Reading PLC ladder logic
  • Basic Electrical motor Starter circuit troubleshooting
  • 480V Welding machine troubleshooting and/or repairs needed.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least three years of experience performing electrical system and machine maintenance in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Overhead crane and forklift experience required.
  • Battery operated carts & manlift repair experience needed.
