Job description

Position Overview

The position involves safely repairing, constructing, and servicing electronic and electrical machinery and equipment. Responsibilities include diagnosing electrical issues, interpreting diagrams, planning workflows, and designing component adaptations. The electrician is also tasked with mechanical repairs, maintaining communication wiring and power distribution systems, and ensuring a clean work environment. Additional duties include reporting errors, maintaining performance records, and performing other assigned tasks as needed.

Your Day to Day as a Maintenance Technician
  • Performs all work safely, working within established procedures and uses a questioning attitude to prevent and stop unsafe work conditions.
  • Repairs, constructs, adjusts, modifies, installs and sets–up and services all types of electronic and electrical machinery and equipment throughout the works as required.
  • Make sketches and layouts, performs diagnoses and corrects any and all electronic and electrical difficulties, including all specialized equipment.
  • Works from wiring diagrams, drawings, specifications, and written and verbal instructions.
  • Analyzes all types of circuits, wiring diagrams and drawings.
  • Plans details of working procedure to determine material or replacement needs and selects the most logical approach to trouble shooting and repair problems.
  • Designs and constructs adaptations or conversions of component parts.
  • Assembles, installs, adjusts, repairs or replaces faulty parts or wiring and all types of electronic designs.
  • Make mechanical and electrical repairs in connection with the servicing of electronic equipment.
  • Hooks up and moves material, equipment and products to and from work area and building by hand or uses material handling equipment, including overhead cranes.
  • Maintains, installs or repairs all communication cables or wiring.
  • Maintains primary power distribution system, including power cable splices.
  • Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic principles, wiring specification codes, properties of various materials and principle of operation and application of equipment.
  • Keeps own work area, machinery and equipment clean and orderly.
  • Detects and reports faulty operations and defective materials.
  • Reports print errors and/or errors in written and verbal instructions.
  • Maintains performance and maintenance records of all equipment worked on or assigned duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • A two-year technical certification, (Significantly directly related work experience or military training can substitute for trade school training), along with a minimum of two years experience in a comparable manufacturing environment.
  • Must pass quality control testing, as required.
  • Must be able to climb to any height, work in confined spaces, and routinely lift 40 lbs.
  • Must qualify to use cartridge type respirator.
  • Must furnish adequate personal tools to properly perform required duties.
  • Applicants selected for this position must comply with all safety and plant rules, regulations and practices and must attend training classes, as required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • This position requires shift work, and successful applicants must be willing to work any shift.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PLC Experience, Siemens based preferred
  • Industrial electrician experience, such as conduit bending
  • Substation switchgear experience
