Job summary

Belden Inc. in Carson, LA, is seeking an experienced Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician to repair, maintain, and install industrial machines used in production. The role requires PLC expertise and strong electrical/mechanical troubleshooting abilities.

1st shift runs 8am–4:30pm. Pay ranges from $25 to $43 per hour, with opportunities to train junior technicians and participate in safety programs. Proactive collaboration with production is essential.

Qualifications

  • Vocational school or Associate’s degree required.
  • 5+ years of electrical and mechanical maintenance experience required.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, and PLC-controlled production equipment.
  • Diagnose and solve issues related to PLCs, sensors, motors, VFDs, and mechanical systems.
  • Ensure proper operation of all equipment and machines (generators, cablers, braiders, extruders, compressors, pneumatics, PLCs).
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and machine tools for fabrication of parts and machine additions.
  • Work with 480V and lower voltage electrical systems.
  • Assist with installation of new or refurbished machinery and upgrades.
  • Conduct safety inspections of facilities and machines.
  • Collaborate with production to identify root causes and long-term solutions.
  • Create material lists and submit purchase requests for MRO supplies.
  • Train junior maintenance technicians and inspect work quality.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job description

Position Summary

Our Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician will repair, maintain, and facilitate installation of industrial machines (Braiders, Cabling, and Extrusion) used in production operations and assist in training any junior Maintenance Technicians. This advanced role requires expertise in troubleshooting electrical systems, PLCs, and mechanical machinery.

Shift & Pay

1st shift: 8am – 4:30pm

Pay Range: $25 - $43/hr

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, and PLC-controlled production equipment.
  • Diagnose and solve issues related to PLCs, sensors, motors, VFDs, and mechanical systems.
  • Ensure proper operation of all equipment and machines, such as power generators, cablers, braiders, extruders, air compressors, pneumatics, and PLCs.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and machine tools for fabrication of parts and machine additions.
  • Work with 480V and lower voltage electrical systems.
  • Assist with installation of new or refurbished machinery and machinery upgrades.
  • Conduct safety inspections of facilities and machines.
  • Collaborate with production team to identify root causes of equipment downtime and long‑term solutions.
  • Create material lists and submit purchase requests for MRO supplies.
  • Train junior level maintenance technicians and inspect the quality of performed maintenance work.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Education / Abilities
  • Vocational school or Associate’s degree required.
  • At least 5 years of experience with electrical and mechanical maintenance is required.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics is required.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, and basic computer skills are required.
  • Thorough understanding of safety practices, guidelines, rules, and laws is required.
  • Ability to use and operate hand tools, power tools, and machine tools is required. Welding, fabrication, lathe and milling machining and additional skills are a plus.
  • Knowledge with PLCs and VFDs is a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods standing, stretching, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Visual acuity to properly inspect and modify large and detailed portions of machinery.
  • Manual dexterity to assemble, disassemble, adjust, and relocate machines.
