Job summary

Liquid Env Solutions of Texas is hiring a Maintenance Technician in Houston to maintain wastewater plant equipment, perform installations, repairs, and preventative maintenance across mechanical and electrical systems. The role requires a high school diploma and 5+ years as a journeyman in process equipment, with a City of Houston Stationary Engineer License (Grade 1 or 2) at hire.

Start time is 6am, with a 6am–3pm schedule and a starting pay of $30/hour.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Service and repair pumps, motors, air compressors, and other plant equipment.
  • Work with plant operators to ensure smooth operations and efficient production.
  • Diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues to minimize downtime.
  • Adhere to safety regulations, use PPE, and ensure environmental compliance.
  • Install and repair plumbing and electrical systems; PLC knowledge is a bonus.
  • Use test meters and diagnostic tools to locate issues.

Job description

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance, installation and repairs of wastewater plant's mechanical equipment including gas and diesel engines, heat exchangers, fans, valves, compressors, storage tanks, pumps of various types, overhead cranes and hoists. The Maintenance Technician plays an integral role in the daily functions of the wastewater cleaning facility.

Start Time: 6am - 3pm |Starting $30/hour |

Essential Functions
  • Operates and maintains equipment such as grinders, lathes, drill presses, pipe threading and welding machines, band saws, electrical testing equipment and other associated shop equipment.
  • Performs metal fabrication such as ironwork, sheet metal, burning and welding.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on all equipment.
  • Operates and maintains vehicle in accordance with company procedures and policies.
  • Operates heavy equipment including forklift trucks, boom trucks, mini excavator.
  • Performs minor electrical maintenance functions.
  • Cleans and maintains process equipment.
  • Provides training and leadership in working with team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Able to work independently without supervision
  • Good knowledge of equipment, machinery, and processes
  • Ability to troubleshoot pump issues
  • Good knowledge of the tools, equipment and terminology used in the installation, rebuilding and maintenance and repair of wastewater treatment systems
  • Ability to install, rebuild and make skilled repairs to equipment and machinery relative to a wastewater treatment plant
  • Skill in the operation repair of pumps, valves and related mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Very strong mechanical aptitude, reliability and multitasking are a must
  • Able to follow written and verbal instruction and can stay on task while working alone
  • Ability to communicate with others for safety and efficiency requirements
Position-specific responsibilities
  • Service and repair pumps (e.g., diaphragm pumps, Gorman-Rupp pumps), motors, air compressors, and other plant equipment.
  • Work alongside plant operators to ensure smooth operations and efficient production output.
  • Diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, maintain proper use of PPE, and ensure compliance with environmental standards.
  • Conduct installations and repairs involving plumbing and electrical systems to keep equipment operating effectively.
  • Strong aptitude for repairing pumps, valves, motors, and industrial equipment.
  • Plumbing and Electrical Experience: Required for installations and maintenance; PLC knowledge is a bonus.
  • Using test meters and other diagnostic equipment to locate and troubleshoot problems.
  • Any special operational requirements
Education and Experience
  • High school graduate or equivalent (Required)
  • Five (5+) plus years as a journeyman working in the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of process equipment. The type used in a wastewater treatment facility (Required).
  • City of Houston Stationary Engineer License - Grade 1 or Grade 2 (required at hire)
