Job summary

City of Alice, TX is seeking a mechanically inclined individual to support water and wastewater plant facilities. You will install, repair, and maintain equipment such as pumps, generators, backhoes, and various hand tools under supervision.

The role requires attention to safety, ability to read manuals, and accurate maintenance logging. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, a Texas driver’s license, and be prepared to obtain a Class D TCEQ license within two years.

Qualifications

  • Must obtain a Class D Water & Wastewater license within 2 years of service.
  • Two years of experience in installation, repair, and maintenance of water/wastewater plant equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, repair, and maintain water/wastewater plant equipment including pumps and valves.
  • Create and maintain maintenance logs and records.
  • Respond to service calls after hours or on weekends/holidays as needed.
  • Work safely and notify supervisor of unsafe equipment or conditions.
  • Perform routine inspections of motors, pumps, and related systems.

Primary Purpose

Under supervision, performs installation, repairs, and maintains all Water Plant and Wastewater Plant facilities equipment. Including Lake Findley and Lake Corpus Christi pump stations, elevated storage tanks, and wastewater lift stations and related work as directed.

Qualifications
Education/Certification
  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Individual must possess a valid Texas Driver's License, Class "C" with an acceptable driving record.
  • A minimum of a Class "D" Water and Wastewater TCEQ License (required to obtain after 2 year of service) with accredited training courses.
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Knowledge of safety regulations to work with equipment used in water/wastewater maintenance
  • Ability to understand and follow detailed written or verbal instructions
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operations and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Ability to correctly prioritize workload
Experience
  • Two years' experience in installation, repair and maintenance of water/wastewater plant equipment
  • Experience in working with various types of equipment including:

Major Responsibilities And Duties
  • Inspects, and repairs electric motors, pumps, and valves that regulate the flow of raw water into treating plant.
  • Inspects and repairs valves that regulate water through filter beds to remove impurities.
  • Repairs and lubricates water and wastewater plant machinery and equipment
  • Creates maintenance logs and maintains historical maintenance and mechanical work data.
  • Responds to service calls during or after normal operation hours, weekends, and holidays without delay.
  • Works safely and responsibly. Notifies supervisor of all unsafe equipment or areas of the plant.
