Job summary

SPM, LLC – Episcopal Place in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep residents safe and comfortable in well-maintained spaces. You will troubleshoot HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and appliance issues, perform preventive maintenance, and help maintain curb appeal while supporting a collaborative team.

This role rewards hands-on problem solvers with opportunities to grow skills, take on urgent repairs, and contribute to a high‑performing property management team.

Qualifications

• HVAC certification is preferred but not required.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, appliances, electrical, plumbing and carpentry.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Passion for providing exceptional customer service.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of maintaining the physical condition of the community, inside and out.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems, electrical issues, plumbing problems, and appliances (stoves, dishwashers, refrigerators, disposals, etc.).
• Complete service requests within 24 hours quickly, efficiently, and with care.
• Perform routine upkeep and preventive maintenance to keep everything running smoothly.
• Help maintain curb appeal: remove debris, pressure wash exteriors, maintain grounds, and more.
• Rotate on-call duties with the maintenance team for after-hours and occasional holiday/weekend support.
• Keep inventory of commonly used parts and materials to control maintenance expenditures.
• Collaborate with team members and vendors and always go the extra mile for residents.

What You’ll Bring:

• Previous property maintenance experience
• HVAC certification (preferred but not required)
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, appliances, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry
• Great communication and teamwork skills
• A passion for providing exceptional customer service
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
• A valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation
