Century-Furniture is seeking a proactive Maintenance Technician to repair and maintain plant machinery and utilities at our Hickory, NC facility. You will inspect equipment, disassemble for repairs, and perform preventive maintenance to ensure reliable operation.

The role requires reading blueprints or manuals, operating metalworking tools, and following strict safety procedures in a noisy manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; maintenance experience preferred.
  • Ability to read manuals/drawings and diagnose repairs.
  • Experience with electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain facility machinery and utilities.
  • Observe equipment in operation and determine repairs needed.
  • Disassemble equipment to access components for repair.
  • Inspect and verify new components for use on equipment.
  • Lubricate and perform preventive maintenance per standards.
  • Operate metalworking tools as needed to fabricate parts.
  • Assist in electrical repairs and follow safety policies.

Summary Job DescriptionThis position is responsible for the repairing and maintaining of machinery and facilities, both interior and exterior. Some examples would be, electric motors, pneumatic lines, hydraulic lines, conveyor systems, various furniture production equipment, electrical systems, rooftop and ground level dust system components, water lines, minor plumbing and various other plant related maintenance.Essential DutiesProvide or assist in the repairs and maintenance of facility machinery and utilities.Observes equipment in operation and determines the need for repairs.Disassemble equipment as necessary to allow for proper repairs.Examines and verifies that new components are acceptable for use on equipment.Adjusts functional parts of devices and control mechanisms to assure proper equipment function.Cleans, lubricates, and provides preventive maintenance to equipment per factory and company standards.Operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking equipment to make and repair parts as needed.Knowledgeable and experienced on both power and hand toolsAssists in repairs to electrical equipmentMust follow all safety policies and proceduresCarry out all essential duties required in the Maintenance Department daily.Position RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED preferredPrevious maintenance experience requiredMust be able to use equipment manuals and drawings to diagnose and make needed repairs on equipment and systems.Vocational or trade school training in any maintenance field is a plusThe applicant must possess the ability to work without supervision and be a self-motivator once direction or goal is given.Physical RequirementsThe physical demands and work environment expectations described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
