Job summary

Burkentine and Sons Builders Inc. in Harrisburg, PA is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join its growing team. The role covers HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and appliance repairs, plus preparing vacant apartments for move-in through turnover work.

You will contribute to safety and upkeep across the property while delivering excellent resident service. Applicants should be prepared for weekend/evening shifts and on-call emergencies, including snow removal.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in building maintenance or trades education.
• HVAC, electrical and appliance repair proficiency.
• HVAC certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• On-call availability for emergencies.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare vacant apartments for move-in through turnover repairs.
• Resolve maintenance issues including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and appliances.
• Maintain building cleanliness and safety, including snow removal and grounds.
• Provide residents with outstanding customer service.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies.

Description

Burkentine is growing and as a result we are looking for a Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for resolving maintenance issues in the area of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and appliance repair.

Requirements

• Preparing vacant apartments for move-in through turn-over repairs and improvements.
• Resolving maintenance issues in the area of HVAC, electrical, plumbing and appliance repair.
• Preserving the beauty of the building and the safety of the community through general upkeep and cleanliness, snow removal and grounds maintenance.
• Providing residents with outstanding customer service.
• Working weekends or evenings and being on call for after hour emergencies (including snow removal).

Qualifications

• Prefer a minimum of high school degree.
• Experience in building maintenance or an education in the trades.
• Beginner to intermediate proficiency in HVAC, plumbing, electrical and appliance repair.
• An HVAC certification (or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire).
• Availability for emergency situations at the property, including an on-call rotation.
• The ability to exert 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.
• Personal, reliable transportation to get to work and to respond to on-call emergencies.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
• A service mentality and a thirst for learning.
