Job summary

Sun Orchard is hiring a Maintenance Technician in Haines City, FL. This role provides hands-on electrical and instrumentation maintenance, calibration, and testing to ensure reliable plant operations.

You will work with PLCs, DCS, and SCADA systems, perform preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot equipment while adhering to safety standards. Dairy and beverage industry experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required; technical diploma or associate's degree or cert in electrical/instrumentation preferred.
• 2+ years in an industrial environment with hands-on electrical/instrumentation maintenance.
• Proficient with PLCs, DCS, and SCADA systems.
• Ability to read diagnostic and calibration tools and schematics.
• Strong problem solving and teamwork abilities; able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Experience in food and beverage industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, and commission electrical and instrumentation equipment such as sensors, transmitters, controllers, switches, and VFDs.
• Install and troubleshoot PLC equipment and processes; calibrate plant instrumentation like level transmitters and flow meters.
• Read and interpret diagrams, schematics, and control wiring diagrams.
• Set up control systems including PLCs, DCS, and SCADA systems; perform routine preventative maintenance.
• Troubleshoot and repair faults in electrical systems including motors and drives; adjust and recalibrate instruments.
• Test, calibrate, and validate instruments to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Maintain records and logs; ensure safety and OSHA compliance; participate in risk assessments.
• Assist with SOP creation and updates; support continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, calibrate, and commission electrical and instrumentation equipment, such as sensors, transmitters, controllers, switches, and variable frequency drives.
• Install and troubleshoot PLC equipment and processes, and be able to install and calibrate plant instrumentation, such as level transmitters, flow meters, and pressure sensors.
• Read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and control wiring diagrams.
• Set up control systems, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
• Conduct routine maintenance on electrical and instrumentation systems to prevent downtime.
• Troubleshoot and repair faults in electrical systems, such as motors, drives, and control circuits.
• Perform adjustments, recalibrations, and replacements of malfunctioning instruments, ensuring optimal performance.
• Test, calibrate, and validate various instruments to ensure they meet accuracy and functionality standards.
• Use diagnostic tools and calibration equipment to monitor and adjust system performance.
• Record calibration data and maintain detailed logs and reports for future reference.
• Identify potential hazards and take proactive measures to ensure a safe work environment. Adhere to industry safety standards and regulations, including OSHA.
• Participate in risk assessments, ensuring safe operation of electrical and instrumentation systems.
• Maintain records of all maintenance, repairs, and calibrations.
• Assist with the creation and updating of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED
• Technical diploma, associate's degree, or certification in electrical, instrumentation, or related field required.
• 2+ years in an industrial environment with hands-on experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance.
• Proficiency with PLC's DCS, and SCADA systems
• Ability to use diagnostic and calibration tools
• Strong problem solving abilities
• Experience in food and beverage preferred*
