Job summary

Kelly Services is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Technician in Gurnee, IL. The role focuses on troubleshooting and repairing complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, with preventive maintenance on injection molding equipment and facility systems.

You will partner with Operations, Engineering, and Quality to ensure reliable production. Typical daily work includes responding to equipment breakdowns, supporting installations and upgrades, and mentoring less-experienced

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams.
• Experience with injection molding equipment and automation is preferred.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills; able to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on injection molding machines and related equipment.
• Respond quickly to production breakdowns to minimize downtime.
• Support equipment installations, modifications, and continuous improvement projects.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and coordinate with Operations, Engineering, and Quality.

Pay Rate : $29.00 - $31.00/hr.

12-hour shifts: Both Day and Nights are available

Days : 6:45am - 7:00pm

Nights: 6:45pm – 7:00am

2/2/3 Schedule example:

• Week 1: 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on
• Week 2: 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off
• 30-minute unpaid lunch break
• Two 20-minute paid breaks

What’s a typical day as Industrial Maintenance Technician? You’ll be:

• Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment issues.
• Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, automation, assembly equipment, and facility systems.
• Responding promptly to production equipment breakdowns to restore operation and minimize downtime.
• Supporting equipment installations, modifications, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.
• Completing scheduled preventive maintenance activities and maintaining accurate records within the maintenance system.
• Partnering closely with Operations, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure reliable production.
• Providing technical guidance and hands-on support to less-experienced technicians.

This job might be an outstanding fit if you:

• Have 10 years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Possess strong skills in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Can independently diagnose complex equipment failures and perform root cause analysis.
• Are experienced in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams.
• Understand industrial electrical systems, machine controls, and Lockout/Tagout safety practices.
• Demonstrate strong communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Preferred: Experience with plastic injection molding equipment (such as Engel, Arburg, Milacron), robotics, automation, Allen-Bradley PLCs, and CMMS/work-order systems.
• Preferred : Technical degree, apprenticeship, journeyman certification, or equivalent industrial maintenance training.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and lift up to 20 pounds as needed.
