Role Overview:

As a Maintenance Technician at Putnamville Correctional Facility (PCF), you’ll support daily repair and preventive maintenance in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry. This Monday-Friday role offers steady day shift hours from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, and strong safety practices. PCF operates its own powerhouse with steam and boiler systems; while this role doesn’t directly support those operations, you’ll have opportunities to learn and expand your technical skill set. PCF offers structured training and a clear path for advancement into supervisory and leadership roles. T his progression mirrors our statewide growth model: Maintenance Technician → Maintenance Supervisor → Physical Plant Director.

Salary Statement:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. Depending on the retirement plan you choose, the total compensation value of a $42,900.00 salary, including the State’s retirement contributions, can reach approximately $69,822.98. A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

What You'll Need for Success:

This person must have the following requirements to be considered for employment:

• Knowledge of electrical systems, carpentry, plumbing and painting trades.
• Ability to plan, schedule and supervise job sites.
• Ability to fill in for other foreman to ensure the operation of the department.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and other remediation plans and documents.
• Thorough knowledge of standard practices, processes, materials, procedures, and the ability to use tools and equipment of the various trades, such as carpentry, plumbing and electrical.
• Thorough knowledge of the OSHA standards, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), occupational hazards and safety precautions required of the various trade areas.
• Ability to plan and estimate project proposals in terms of equipment, man hours and costs.
• Ability to endure exposure to inclement weather.
• Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow.
• Ability to effectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, coach, and develop employee skillsets.
• Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

This role must satisfy the following requirements to continue employment:

• Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.

This role provides supervision for incarcerated individuals and requires a high level of judgment and care.
