Job summary

Health Solutions West in Grand Junction, CO is seeking a Maintenance Technician to repair and maintain hospital and outpatient facilities. You will handle building, plumbing, electrical tasks and landscaping duties to keep the campus safe and functional.

The role requires a High School diploma, at least one year in a healthcare setting, and a valid driver's license. On-call, night, weekend and holiday shifts may apply, with competitive hourly pay of $24.72.

Position qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalency required. Minimum of one (1) year experience working in Hospital and/or Outpatient facility or similar setting preferred. Requires working knowledge of various trade's fundamentals. Experience in repairs of HVAC, plumbing, lock and security systems highly desirable. Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate company vehicles and equipment.

Job purpose

Responsible for repairing and maintaining of the hospital and outpatient facilities, and keeping the grounds free of debris and landscaping pristine. Must be willing to perform on-call, night, and weekend and holiday duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skill & Ability (include materials and equipment directly used)

• Performs a wide variety of maintenance work having to do with building, plumbing, furniture, and basic electrical repairs.
• Performs repairs on drywall and painting.
• Constructs partitions, shelves, racks, etc. Builds special equipment when required.
• Requires a working knowledge of various trade's fundamentals
• Must be willing to identify problems and provide suggestions for resolution in order to improve processes and/or work flows.
• The knowledge of and ability to implement Health and Safety protocols.
• Must be valid driver's license and be able to operate company vehicles and equipment.
• Working knowledge of Windows based computer applications to include Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Internet access.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment including calculator, copy machine, fax and multi-line telephone.
• Interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external customers.
• Ability to organize and prioritize workload in a sometimes hectic environment with frequent interruptions.
• Knowledge and ability to perform Universal Precautions and correctly use Personal Protective Equipment

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop. Must have ability to sit for longer periods of time at a computer. Employee must be able to travel between Mind Springs sites. May be exposed to stressful situations that involve enraged, distraught and/or intoxicated individuals with possible mental disorders. Possible potential for exposure to communicable disease.
