Job summary

National Safety Apparel in Arkansas is seeking a Maintenance Technician responsible for preventative maintenance and repairs on all plant equipment, with occasional facility upkeep. The role reports to the Plant Manager and requires a proactive, safety-conscious mindset.

You will maintain equipment across cutting, sewing, and production lines, keep detailed logs, and support continuous improvement within a temperature-controlled plant environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 2 years of machine/equipment maintenance in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to stand for duration of shift and lift up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on cutting and spreading equipment.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on sewing machines.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on other production equipment.
  • Records all maintenance and repair services in the Maintenance Log.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area and cleans up after repairs.
  • Be part of a maintenance team that seeks to improve sewing team efficiency.
  • Be involved in machine and facility projects.

Maintenance Technician - Arkansas

Reports To: Plant Manager

Direct Reports: None

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview: Responsible for maintenance (preventative & repairs) on all plant equipment and occasionally help with facility maintenance.

Essential Job Functions
  • Performs all tasks in a safe and OSHA approved manner wearing appropriate PPE when necessary.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on all cutting and spreading equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on all sewing machines.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on all other production pieces of equipment.
  • Record all maintenance and repair services performed into Maintenance Log.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area and clean up thoroughly when completing a production repair or request.
  • Maintain neat and orderly spare parts, cabinets, and machine manuals.
  • Be part of a maintenance team that is constantly looking to find ways for a sewer or sewing team to improve their efficiency.
  • Be involved in various machine and/or facility projects.

Training: Provided on the job and may be supplemented with external, local, or out-of-town training.

Qualifications
  • Education & Certifications: High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience: 2 years of machine/equipment maintenance in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Key Competencies: Likes to build and fix things, persistence (wants it done, but wants it done "right"), positive attitude, dependable, analytical thinking, problem solving, good communication skills, and functional computer skills (email, PM logs/tracking and maintenance tracking).

Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for duration of shift, manual dexterity when working with industrial sewing machines of all sizes, and good vision (corrected vision is fine). Needs to be able to lift 40 lbs.

Working Conditions: Temperature-regulated plant environment and consistent background machine noise.
