Job summary

Knoll is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve manufacturing equipment to support safe, efficient production. The role requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to work with Production, Engineering, and other teams in a fast-paced environment.

You will perform preventive and predictive maintenance, respond to breakdowns, document activities, and contribute to continuous-improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain manufacturing equipment and machinery.
• Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and other equipment repairs as qualified.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and production-related maintenance issues.
• Dismantle, repair, replace, adjust, and reassemble machinery and equipment.
• Perform equipment setup, modifications, and installations as needed.
• Assist with equipment moves, installations, and start-up activities.
• Identify recurring equipment problems and recommend corrective actions.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance according to established procedures and schedules.
• Inspect equipment for wear, damage, or potential failure.
• Lubricate machinery and replace worn components.
• Document completed maintenance activities and repairs.
• Assist in developing and improving preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems, motors, sensors, switches, controls within training.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and manuals.
• Use electrical test equipment safely.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, safety, quality, and productivity.
• Participate in root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Support Lean manufacturing and continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Follow all safety policies, PPE usage, LOTO procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain a clean, safe maintenance area and report hazards.

Position Summary:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving manufacturing equipment to support safe, efficient, and reliable production operations. This position responds to equipment breakdowns, performs preventive and predictive maintenance, identifies root causes of equipment failures, and works closely with Production, Engineering, and other departments to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability. The successful candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, a safety-first mindset, good problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Responsibilities:

Equipment Maintenance & Repair

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain manufacturing equipment and machinery.
• Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and other equipment repairs as qualified.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and production-related maintenance issues.

• Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment within the limits of training and authorization.
• Use electrical test equipment such as multimeters and other diagnostic tools safely and effectively.

Continuous Improvement

• Work with Production and Engineering to identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, safety, quality, and productivity.
• Participate in root-cause analysis and corrective-action activities.
• Recommend modifications that reduce equipment downtime and maintenance costs.
• Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous-improvement initiatives.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and other established maintenance safety practices.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized maintenance work area.
• Report unsafe equipment conditions or workplace hazards immediately.
• Follow all environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements applicable to the position.

Documentation & Communication

• Accurately document maintenance activities, repairs, parts usage, and equipment conditions.
• Maintain accurate information in the company's maintenance management system, where applicable.
• Communicate equipment issues and maintenance needs effectively to Production and Maintenance leadership.
• Maintain appropriate inventory of maintenance parts, tools, and supplies.
• Work with outside contractors and service providers as directed.

Qualifications Required:

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2+ years of industrial/manufacturing maintenance experience, or equivalent technical training and experience.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Basic to intermediate electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and electrical schematics.
